If someone needed the difference between "EDM" and electronic music with substance explained to them... I might use the song you posted to make a point. Otherwise; that shit is worthless. (Formulaic, mass produced, bullshit)
Please listen to the "Delta Heavy Mix", as that is my submission . https://soundcloud.com/nero/sets/must-be-the-feeling-remixes
https://soundcloud.com/shm-cannes/swedish-house-mafia-live Please listen from 6:11 to 10:06, as it is a remix from Junior Jack - Thrill Me that I was never able to identify the track. Maybe it was mixed on the fly, I don't know, but it's just gorgeous. The drop and groove at 7:13 is insane.
Oh man... I should start a TRAP thread. There is plenty of HORRIBLE trap out there... but there is also some AMAZING stuff....
I'm literally out and about with friends... sitting in the corner checking these threads on my headphones; LOL
I tend to hate mashups.... Although just like any style; some of it is gold. It's the easiest style of electronic music to produce. (Cause you don't have to do much actual production... all you are doing is mixxing 2-3-4 songs together... but in a studio super methodically as opposed to behind a mixxer + decks) SOOOOOO... it's the easiest style to jump into; and thus the one with the most shit to weed through. So I tend to just ignore mashups.
Word! If you're into gold--but it's not a house mashup--consider this amazing mashup. It's probably my #1 mashup ever:
I just had an idea: I could take all these threads I made today... and sample a little tidbit from every submission... and turn them into new songs. Each thread = it's own unique production... with it's own source material that I really had very little control over. 7 threads, 7 songs.... sounds like an album waiting to happen.
