I looked through all the threads here but didn't really find anything definitive. I apologize ahead of time if I overlooked anything. Basically, about 20 minutes into a play session, give or take a few minutes, I start getting weird graphics lag. Just running in place and then rubber banding halfway across the screen. It happen probably 90% of the time. I can see the cursor still moving on UOAM, so I'm not sure it's an connection issue...it's like the graphics just don't keep up. I have unchecked the box on Razor about optimizing PC performance or whatever...that didn't help. I'm running everything in compatibility mode. I've tried changing DNS servers or whatever. I tried upping the priority for resources on the task bar thing. The only thing that works reliably is fully exiting out of the client and reopening it. Then I'll get another 20 minutes or so. Logging out and back in with either the same or a different character works, but very rarely. Once it hits, it doesn't ever seem to correct itself on its own. There doesn't seem to be a correlation with being in a busy area or anything that I can tell. Fwiw, very occasionally, I will be able to play a good 30-45 minutes with no trouble. Any ideas?
Just a player here. I in no way represent the staff. A dxdiag of your machine would be nice. Based on the description of the problem, I'm looking at a processor config solution.
@Dunkel25 if you can, the next time you run into this issue playing... can you open (or have opened) task manager and look for something called "system interrupts" on the details tab? and same for (UO)client.exe I'd be curious to see what the CPU usage is like during the lag/jitter you're experiencing. As well, it's probably nothing but just to be sure... Right click client.exe and select set affinity.... are all of your processors selected?
I've been keeping an eye on CPU usage on task manager and it doesn't seem to be spiking when it happens. And once the lag sets in, it stays until I exit the client and reload it. I'll look at the system interrupt, though. And I'm not sure what you're referring to with the set affinity...I don't see that option.
task manager > details > (UO) client.exe > right click > find "set affinity" > select Don't fret too much if you can't find it... I'm really running down a rabbit hole with this one.
Yeah, they're all checked. I haven't noticed any spikes...it'll jump up to 2.1%, but that's about it.
I just noticed something new...well not new, but I just noticed it. After going out and hunting or dungeon crawling for hours, the lag hits after returning to my house. So started testing it...it seems to be connected to my house. I can do whatever I like outside of my house with no issues, but then as soon as I return to it, I get caught with the lag. Like there's a corrupted cell right there or something.
I got totally lagged out when I tried to mine like north of minoc. Looked at the houses nearby solved that riddle its like the Beverly hills of pixels
Problem solved...it's the macro I was using to unlock/walk in/lock my door. Stopped using it and the lag went away. No idea why, but there it is.
When you have a walk command in a macro it will cause this 'rubberbanding'. Same deal with my macro that walks around.. I have to close my client and reload it after using that macro. Change the house macro to unlock/pause/lock. this way you can manually move the character and not have the 'move' command in the macro. Hope this helps!
