Unique is kinda a weird word here. I call anything less than 3-4 of an item, that is a server birth/scavenger hunt prize/bug report item etc a unique. Even though unique means 1 of a kind, its also a label that has been given to rares that are not of the spawning variety. So in this case, server birth and unique both work IMO. It's just UO lingo, no need to be politically correct! No misrepresentation! And Sorry Gideon but this one won't be 1.5m : ) 1.75m
I have never encountered anyone using the word unique for anything other than something that is one of a kind unless they were using the word incorrectly. Unique means just that; 1 of a kind and always has. Saying an item is unique when there are 3 (or whatever amount over 1) is either wrong (for the misinformed) or misleading (for the informed).
Agree to Disagree. I have quite a few uniques to sell : ) Most of these items that are births/scav hunt rewards etc are uniques on any other shard I have played. It just so happens that there is a few of each of these items released here, they are still more rare than spawning rares, and are "unique" in their own way in the fact that they are not spawning rare or obtainable again. These items don't really have any other name to put on them. If they were aquired in a scavenger hunt, then they are not a "server birth" either. It's true that the word may be being used in the wrong way but look how many other words in the English language are butchered daily and used in the wrong way. Everyone has the same access to the compendium to check the rarity of an item, so just because someone puts a "unique" label on an item doesn't mean they are purposely misleading someone. Also, everyone should do their research before buying an item whether someone says its unique, a server birth, or a spawning rare. I will continue to call these items "uniques" until a better word is mainstream. haha Sorry for the "discussion" in your sale/thread, I will move it elsewhere if it continues.
