Hello everyone, I played UO a long time ago I am looking for some tips on how to start on this shard After finishing writing this text I realized that it could be confusing, so I highlighted all my questions. I am not used to have a cap on skills, the last shard I played(more than 5 years ago) I could max every skill on the same char, because of this I would like to get some advice on how to start my first char. I believe it should be a worker, right? This is a list of the things that I liked to do when I played: -Fishing all day to find some treasure maps and than go hunting (can you get treasure maps from fishing in this server?) -Visit every rare spawn to check if there is something to tame -Go after some rare mobs, like paragons, to get some good loot -Make some items (armors, weapons, magic items, pots, scrolls etc) and put it on my vendor for some profit -Check a few houses to see which ones are going to decay soon so I can sell the spot later -Anything else that will give me profit $.$ I do enjoy pvp, but I am a player more focused on the business part of this game And this is my problem with skill cap, I really wish I could have just one char with every craft skill in this game But since I can't, what should be my worker? I am willing to make 1-2, 3 at max. How many workers people usually have? What are the professions that I could put on the same char? Its a must for me to have a treasure hunter and a tamer, is there a way to make them in the same char? Or to put other profession with them? BTW is taming profitable in this server?
Greetings and welcome mcout! I am sure I wont be the only person to help you on your way here, but here is what I got for ya! This is era accurate to the 1999-2001 UO era. Skill cap is 700 skill points, and 225 in stats. 100 max in any skill and 100 max in any stat. In terms of first character, totally depends on what you wanna do and how fast you wanna do it. Because you can have 3 accounts here, many players make 3 characters, of differenty stylings, and macro with 2 while they play with the other one, then rotate. You can AFK macro anything with the exception of material gathering skills (mining, lumberjacking, etc.....) Fishing can be AFK macro'd to 99, but after that you will need to be there while fish. You have a lot of questions here, so I and the others will try to answer them the best we can. Okay lets see..... - Yes you can get t-maps from fishing up serpents, but thats only level 1 maps. At GM fishing you have a chance to fish up a shipwrecked Kraken, which will have an Ancient Message in a Bottle, which gives you access to a closed instance and has some great loot in there (its like a mini dungeon). Or you can sell them. For higher level t-maps you will need to kill higher end mobs in dungeons. - Our "rare" spawns come in the form of special animals used to fill a Taming Scroll, for another custom part of this game. The Tamers here can give you all the info you need on that. We do have Bosses and Champions, but not Paragon creatures. - Crafting us HUGE here, you will do well if you get into that. Although keep in mind that this server is 3 years strong and the crafters here are very established. - IDOCing is also a thing here, there are guilds dedicated to it, and they can be intense. You wont be alone. - PROFIT. nice. The business part of this game is amazing, so you picked the right server for that. Again, this is era accurate, so you will indeed have to split your crafters up. LOTS of different ways to do this, including having a character JUST for materials (lumber, cloth, ingots, bones, etc....) And then another one with JUST the crafting skills. Or really any mix. Lots of players can give you advice there. My crafter is taillor/carpenter/LJ/Tinkering/Fishing and he is all I need here. Works out well. Other have half a dozen crafters for various things. As for your last few questions, lots of answers to that too, but ultimately YES taming is highly profitable on this server ( some people love and live by it, some people hate it). Over all this is an amazing server if you can handle the rule set and the fact this is Felluca. Best staff of any server I have played on, most vibrant community in almost any online game I have ever played on, and certainly enough to challenge you here that if you put some effort in, this will be the best UO experience you will ever have. Let us know what else we can help you with. Welcome to UOR. ~Krake
I just found this server a week ago and I've saved over $50k just by fighting in the noob dungeon. And that's mostly just over this past weekend. I think I had about $2k in the bank Friday afternoon. I'm 1/3 of the way to my brick house I've always wanted!
Tips??... hmm... Don't spend it all in one place.... Don't eat yellow snow...... Treat others as you would like to be treated.... Oh in game... Kill everything in sight and damn the consequences. Oh and don't make useless forum posts just to get your post count up. We all know what you are doing, the first guy answered correctly in the first place, everyone else after that first person is just a chump
