Hello every one, Thought I'd make another post about possible ways to increase the draw to using a dexxer My idea on this is to introduce a new type of currency that would be a scaled drop, based on monster difficulty and only able to drop by a killing blow from a slayer weapon. The currency would mainly be used for the purchase of more slayer equipment with scaled costs based on power and item types. There could also be some new pve only types of armour And maybe for novelty there could be a few ultra expensive rares. Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks
i like you, you have ideas my only concern is slayers are expensive here for the higher end stuff, so it might not encourage new players to start up a dexer and turn into a vendor only kinda pursuit.
The idea of this would be to bring the use of slayer weapons in pvm a more cost effective option the high end +25 vanq would still be a valued item but like a ruin - force one would be easier to obtain and a bit more common
vet, lore, taming, mage, med, tactics, weapontype and a well timed all stop all stay macro or dual if not 3 client with one dexxer and two tamers and again, a well timed all stop all stay macro
Even if you did choose this rout it would still contribute to more widely accessible slayer weapons and use of a dexxer even if it's a hybrid
there's only so much you can introduce to a server that's trying to emulate how the game was at a certain time period. You're extremely limited in what you can and cannot do to certain classes/templates, or to the game in general because you don't want to transition this from a server that strives to 'get it right' to something custom. There's a reason tamers are OP here, it's because they were OP in era. There's a reason dexxers aren't fruitful here and it's because PVE was not their forte.
To be fair, neither is pvp. But dexxers were bad in era as well, it wasn't until age of Shadows that dexxers saw buffs in the form of chivalry.
I don't disagree with you at all on these points, one of the reasons I love this shard is the classic feel it offers. That being said I think that leaving something like dexxers broken and nearly useless out of the idea of era accuracy isn't the answer either
I had written that at the end of my post. "There's a reason dexxers aren't fruitful here and it's because PVE was not their forte. PvP isn't their forte here either, but it also doesn't have to be. This game isn't wow where everything is balanced. This is a game where you build your character with tons of interchangeable skills and just because the dexxer template is bad at pve does not mean it has to be good at pvp." But decided to just leave it as I had it.
Yeah, unfortunately dexxers are niche templates here. But keep in mind, they are still useful. Ironman'ing things is best done with a dexxer, as is battle mining, so they have that going for them.
In addition to that positive comment, many people still find a dexxer more "fun" for PvM and PvP even if they are less effective. For me, games are about having fun! That said, I am in favor of some minor changes that help dexxers in PvM. Cant speak to dexxers in PvP as I am not qualified to do so.
I totally agree with the fun factor of playing a dexxer, that's why I made this proposal. I personally feel that if slayer weapons were a more common item it would definitely help them in pvm and have no effect on pvp
Another issue that I don't think you guys are considering is how much more pks would run dungeons if more people were out farming with slayers, and being on a dexxer with mobs on you isnt a position you want to be in when pks show up. Just something to consider.
I don't disagree with this being a possible situation but it happens now only thing is as it is now a decent slayer is valued at 15-100k +, hopefully with a system in place like this the value would come down to a more reasonable lvl and it wouldn't be such a big loss
I don't think there's going to be any secret sauce that will fix dexxers although as era-innacurate as it seems I fully support a bond slot for one weapon (7 or maybe even 5 slots) whereas each death requires money or time to bring the weapon back to full strength. Were it not for tamer bond slots, I'd never make such a crazy proposal. Primarily... Make the associated skills viable beginning with melee damage formulas (this includes archery). The room for improvement has previously been clearly outlined and somewhat acknowledged by a staff member. It either needs acted upon or an official response as to why it won't be freeing us from hanging on to hope. I feel these two things would increase server population in a big way. If I'm incorrect on the state of damage formulas, I'd like to be corrected. I also find it insulting when people refer to the provocation dexxer as a viable "dexxer" template. That's not a dexxer. That's a bard and the only thing that makes that thing viable (compared to a tamer) is provocation, a slayer instrument, and instanced custom content free from outside interference.
