Stat loss - Extending decay rate

    Rather than statloss, if you want to make life harder to reds you should look at how easy it is for them to circumvent criminal recall restrictions and heat of battle through the use of gates/gatebots.

    It's a bit of a pointless discussion though, PKing is much less a problem for the server's health right now than the crippling lag and other issues I would be banned simply for mentioning.

    Telamon works tirelessly on this server, and has absolutely nothing but our best interest at heart, he does so out of love for us. He has 1000's of lines of custom code, and has spent the last year endlessly working on optimizing performance. I would ban you for making blanket ignorant statements that don't help the server too.

    We all have dropped each other. That particularly day that Orange is talking about is when it was CPUvsDRvsIDERPvs the random TT member looting everyone. it was chaos in ice. Every one died that was honestly a very fun day. I do not care about any of the pvp drama I'm just looking for fun fights. Past few weeks have been full of great fights keep it up everyone. Hope you all have a nice weekend cya in the field :D

    that was a pretty wild day.... Im pretty sure that was right after we wrecked the ICE champ and sniped the Plat. I have always enjoyed your post Cleediss... who do you pvp as?

    I personally think dead PKs come back too quickly. What about no stat loss and just a minimum timer in game as a ghost before you can res? X amount of hours / short with an increased short count decay rate to 20 hours?

    I think Steely started this debate as our hunting grounds have been saturated with PKs lately. Lots of them. And even after we devised a plan and killed a few of them, they were right back in our business since their short counts were under 5.

    RRG keeps our shorts low as well, but we don't die, run with valorite weapons and have vowed to change our Character names if we do. Most of these other reds run mages, lose nothing, and res 4 minutes later.

    I agree that PKs lately have been acting as PVP players running around killing everything without caring about going down. If they go down, they come right back. It's a problem.

    And as far as the "players don't like me' argument. Steely Dan is the finest smithy on the shard while still being a member of the RRG.

    All you PKs arguing against this aren't PKs at all. PKs don't die. You guys are just red PVP players looking for a fight. Nothing wrong with wanting to fight constantly, but if you want to fight players who don't want to fight, you should pay for it when you get caught.

    I think raising decay time of shorts is a good idea as there is zero risk for most pk's on the server. Making them 40 hours too like someone mentioned would be an easy fix to it and give players an added incentive to give counts to murderers and added notoriety for those who successfully pk deep in stat loss. It would probably balance things out quite a bit and separate the crappy pk's who are just out for a cheap thrill from the professional ones who actually put in admirable effort into staying alive. Also, I think it would embolden people to fight back... sure you're going to die but if you can get one of the 4 crappy pk's who are ganking you with zero effort, you can at least put him/her out of action for a week or so.

    Stat loss is a historical part of UO and should be in game. I agree with the 40 hours, believe back in day that was the standard; could be wrong. Memory doesn't always remember accurately :)

    Consider this: If a player has a Glorious Lady or Lord title, and they die ( via monster or pker) To keep their Title, the said player has to go back in the field and kill high level monsters. A big risk, high level monster spawns are a fav pker hunting ground. Thus he/she can be killed again via monster or pker.) While the pker takes no risk in macroing off their 40 hours inside their homes

    Why would anyone go through that much effort to kill a red? They just ghost into their house and res. You guys should be very familiar with this. Then what? Someone spends hours tracking reds, camping their house, and killing a red and the red just resurrects because there is essentially no penalty for dying while red because of the ease with which you can shed short term murder counts. It's very easy to kill blues, it's much harder and more time consuming to hunt and kill reds. Killing reds should actually mean something. Dying on reds should actually mean something. Not everyone can nurse butthurt deeper than the Marianas Trench to drive them to spend silly amounts of time just to spite others.

    Don't die or just res in stat if you do. The sky doesn't fall, the earth doesn't tear itself asunder, everything will be okay with this change. I don't analyse changes on whether or not they will harm me, but whether or not they will benefit the shard. Let the time of the real reds begin.

    8 hours with perma-up fiber/adsl and 3 accounts AND gaíning plat on top of it ?

    I die to pks daily and the same ones are on my ass every day.
    I have a dexxer/tamer (ossy tank) and there is nothing I can do in order to touch them, apart:
    1) running like a bitch
    2) train mobs into their ass (after running like a bitch) and then having paralyze field say 'hi'.
    3) gate off and have my pet get a stat loss.

    In jux sanct in order to have the time to pick up my pet and gtfo is not an option, since if you are fighting magical mobs it will be down more time than it is up and it has a cooldown.

    I use trapped pouches, wands, pots and have all the relevant macros, still I am a loser at the start of the thing: if i gate off my pet is fucked with a stat loss, if I die well... Ok ?

    On top of it:

    - The guys preying on my ass wear vendor leather armor.

    - If I want to kill stuff in a timely manner I'd have to use expensive weapons (but well, fuck it: now I use gm weapons that I can craft at a dime at a dozen, shit looted armor (guarding and below) and recall to bank every 3k gold looted).

    So where is the risk-to-reward here ?

    I only see me being forced to play with hobo stuff even if I have the cash to buy and afford to use better shit.

    I don't complain about it, but when I have the person killing me going apeshit because I don't go in war stance to get their ress I seriously hope that their modem goes in self combustion mode.

    Seriously, fuck off you, your rezzes and your stone walls trying to block me from going away.

    If I go somewhere I have a gater ready to get my ass out if I die, I don't need your shitty pityful rez.

    We'll see if it'll go better with a 'real' 4/3 mage/tamer, if yes there will be no pity for you cheap vendor armor fucks.

    Oh and seeing people here advocating against stat loss if you pk people just gets he prize.

    Meradin, we PVP with heavy petting and kill tamers only. Our PKs are RRG. Last death almost 2 years ago. And btw we arent very good at PVP and our builds are tamers So yes, you killed us. Not saying you arent good at PVP. Just that your not at PK af you die all the time.

    With a few exceptions, the only kills we have on heavy petting are other reds, and tamers who dont let us kill their pets. If you don't fight heavy petting only your pets die.. Hence the name, Heavy Petting. We only made them to kill tamers because tamers or OP.

    We dabble with 2 on 2s with heavy petting, we are getting better considering we are missing some vital skills.

    But staying on topic we need to increase shorts to 40hrs
