Reds bear the same risk of dying as anyone else. Statloss is risk on top of this.
Did you know that trammel is a word, and that it literally means restrict, restrain, etc.
Statloss was intended to restrain the behavior of reds - to make them kill people a little more sparingly.

If you're going to go around painting things as being "trammel", it seems like this mechanic intended to restrain the behavior of reds would be the trammel thing, not a world in which people were left to do as they pleased.
I think it's reasonable to think that statloss was necessary - but it's definitely a mechanic that's in line with things that would be considered trammel. In fact, statloss was one of the stepping stones on the way to trammel, this is an absolute fact.

I guess you are just choosing to ignore the divide of what the victims risk, compared to the murderers.

Same risk. You die, you lose your stuff.
Either way, you seem to misunderstand what trammel is. Trammel is inhibition, it has nothing to do with risk. Trammel is about discouraging behaviors, and in its most extreme form, outright disallowing them.

    Only
The hypocrisy in this thread is beyond ridiculous.

If only @bart simpson would chime in favor of this I do believe it would cause a rip in the space-time continuum. Allowing us to finally time travel back to 97 and escape trammel for at least a few years, we will play out the golden years of Siege, and then wait 11 years for Bart to support this once again.

On a side note, it would be a hard choice...Going back in time and trying my luck with all the ladies? Or playing UO with 15 years of experience and no one else knowing a damn thing....
Nevermind it's easy I would be known as "Mera'din the destroyer of noobs".

So I should start pking my alts like at least a few of the others up there?

Arguing something is trammel is a waste of time. Everyone disagrees on what exactly that means. You're not going to convince anyone of anything by calling something trammel. It might as well mean "I don't like it" the way you guys are using it.

If you want to use reds to pvp, then don't pk too much and you will never run into the statloss prolem.

Meradin, that's not what hypocrisy means. One can pk a lot now without contradicting themselves by supporting an increase in the decay timer because wanting an increase in a decay timer and your actions under the current system are not contradictory behaviors/beliefs. I understand this change would make your groups play-style more costly, but whether or not something makes your playstyle more difficult shouldn't be the factor in your analysis. At some point you should stop and wonder why people who pk would support such a change instead of musing about how you have better foresight or something else ridiculous.

Not that it matters, this discussion will not change anything. There have been things broken in pvping for as long as I've played which have not been fixed (0 dmg punches, 0 dmg stun punches, etc.). It seems pretty clear to me that staff isn't interested in pvp changes, you guys are bickering for 9 pages and looking silly for nothing. You can relax Meradin, your roaming 5-8 man pk squads targeting noobs who then go and die immediately afterwards are safe. Rejoice!

It must be nice to separate yourself from actions you take part in, then remove yourself from it objectively and criticize all those involved.
The hypocrisy comes from many groups including yourself benefiting and dominating under a certain rule set. Then when it would seemingly benefit them more
to ask for changes in the rules.

You make the false assumption that this would not benefit me greatly, it would. I do not make a stand strongly against this because of any personal
investment. It is quite the opposite. The logic that believes outlawing guns would remove them from the society, the idea that making drugs illegal prevents people from acquiring them. Prohibition of anything is an exercise in ignorance.

Everyone sitting here right now only thinking about themselves, what about the new player with 1 character who only came here to relive his golden days as a PK? Does his loggin count? Where does he go if it doesn't?

I am surrounded by people dead in stat loss on a daily basis, it is something we already struggle with. I sure am glad that everyone here has the privileged life to leave their computers running 24/7, none of you play other games or ever do anything that would benefit UO being closed.

You know what! A small minority of people are abusing something, lets punish EVERYONE with a blanket rule regardless of circumstance or reason....Prohibition.

No, I include myself in the bickering and silliness which is largely the reason I stopped participating.

That's not what hypocrisy means bud. You can benefit under the current rules and advocate for change of those rule at the same time. I don't know what else to tell you, you're simply wrong and using the word incorrectly.

You're going to have to walk me through that "logic." No one is talking about prohibiting anything. What does increasing the decay timer prohibit?

You can still pk. You can still pvp on reds without any danger of statloss. You can still pk hundreds of people in a day. The only thing which changes is that if you die, you will have to retrain your character. That's not "prohibition."

I will repeat this one more time: People can still pk. They can pk a lot. They can only log in to pk. The only thing which will change is that if they die, they will have to retrain their character. If you're going to argue against it, you need to address what is actually being written instead of writing hysterics responding to something no one is writing. But anyway, the chance of getting this change to happen even when there is broad consensus for it, is pretty small. The sky isn't falling, it'll be okay.

    hypocrisy-
an expression of agreement that is not supported by real conviction.

Perhaps I am implying that if the situation was different i.e CPU was not here. I don't believe any of you would support or care about this. Making the reasoning behind it circumstantial and not based on real conviction or belief in the idea, but only because you perceive this a benefiting you NOW do you support it.

I think making PK's fear death will have the adverse affect, them dying less and blues dying more. At least now they are not afraid to stick around and fight.

Quoting a definition doesn't mean you're interpreting the definition correctly. In this instance, advocating a change in the future and pking currently are not contradictory. See, like this:

    Narcissism - n -

extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one's own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type.

Everything isn't about you meradin, no matter how much you desperately need everyone's actions to in some way be because of or influenced by you makes that a reasonable belief. I don't mean to be mean, but you simply do not matter much.

And not everyone is selfish and self-centered like you, I have supported many ideas which hurt my interest, including removing bonding, nerfing healing on heal mages, and a wide variety of ideas, but you tend to ignore any evidence which doesn't support whatever silly belief you are currently clutching onto so I won't try to continue to dislodge it.

Ahh vague misleading statements, with character attacks and name calling! I must of beat you out on the logic! Let me now do so on the level you have taken it to.
Oh how I love to see you stretch your legs, watching you become your own man in front of my eyes has been one of the greater joys I've had on UOR. Believe it or not
but I use to wonder if you would ever be more than a glorified garbage man, now I see you have elevated yourself to garbage sorter! Can I ask you a question? Does everyone in the group know that the Tri get a bigger cut? How do they feel about it? How much bigger is it? I have so many questions I could just go on for days.

The worst possible thing Napo can do is be right while being constructive, because then even tho he has the best fucking idea, he's Napo.

I am responding in a direct manner because the people who made this post admitted it was because of us, not that it would take a grade 1 level narcissist to
figure that out. It was quite obvious who they were intending to impact, not to just self centered ol meradin but anyone who has left the protection of town guards
in the past two months. Welcome to the new world order boys, I will take this thread on a lock since I am being personally attacked and write it down as the first of many
to follow the trail of bodies that lead to the bottom of our horses feet.(Hooves?)

    - Make murderers pay 110% of their bounty, if it was claimed, in order to resurrect. Gold sink, punishment, revenge, etc..
    - Heat of combat for reds and blues
    - Reds cannot enter moongates for 10 minutes when the timer starts

I like that idea. It also gives another indicator of a red's notoriety..... higher bounty would actually mean something. The bounties would have to be fixed so they don't fall off after 2 weeks of inactivity though :)

It matters because irony requires something to be the opposite of what you'd expect. It's like if I had a thread where I was like "BODs are totally trammel and the opposite of what I'm looking for in UO, we really need to change it, and also does anyone have a 20xValorite Chain Coif small cause I've been doing ."

    Anyways, Genocide's idea is awesome.

Not even remotely the same risk. The majority of victims will have significantly more loot on them, than a murderer. Coupled with the fact that they are in finite locations and can be tracked from 100+ tiles away, through dungeon walls, puts them at even greater risk of loss.

Murderers don't sit around farming worrying that blues my show up to attack them to loot their 50/each reg and some pots and leathers.

No worries, I understand that you have problems understanding things you don't like.
