Factions IS open world. People can PK you on a factioner, they go to towns on a factioner, I don't understand the separation of the two. Factions effects the open world, period.
CTF is the place for trammel lite pvp. Factions is the one bastion of hardcore pvp left, let's not trammelize it. To answer your initial question - yes, I prefer less frequent higher quality fights to having candyland fights on a nightly basis. As I said, CTF is for that.

Then why even do factions if you start taking away incentives for fighting over sigils? This thread is no longer about incentives for factions, it's just more people asking for trammel.

I take advantage of what's given to me. I would just as soon see Lvl 7's go. If we got rid of ALL trammel, AMIBs, Lvl 7's, duel pits, CTF and what have you, I would be behind it 100%

Oh, Blaise. In a manner typical of you, you have lost sight of what you were saying in one of your ceaseless attempts to talk shit. Accusing me of using meat shields actually reinforces what I was saying, which was the claim that I am better at mitigating the risk of dying than you. With this sentence, you have not only completely accepted my (true) assertion that as a tank mage I bear the same risk of losing a weapon that you do, but you have also reinforced my claim that I am better at mitigating that risk than you seem to be by suggesting that I use meat shields. While I would question both how often I really do use meat shields and the actual efficacy of my teammates as meat shields (they don't make very good ones for an assortment of reasons) I don't really think I'll argue much with this one since you're essentially agreeing with me.
