Thought might be fun to share some of our Oops moments during our UOR lives. Just one of my many: When my tamer was new, she'd tamed a bear, I went to put pet on guard, but instead of saying "all guard" and said "all kill" and targeted myself.
I was talking on my phone not paying attention to what character I was on. I proceeded to run from my house into moon glow. As soon as I get into town I was guard whacked. I ran into town on a character with 15 shorts.
Oh geez, where do I even begin. I've gotten myself guardwhacked more times than I can remember. The most bizarre case was when I was in the Occlo provisioners and something screwed up with my razor profiles, so when I went to hit my "vendor buy" macro, it activated a "target blue" macro, killing me on the spot. Sadly.... I repeated the same mistake once again, same exact thing - razor reset so the change didn't stick lol. When I was working on smithing, i was pretty close to GM but couldn't quite get those last few points. I burned through several thousand ingots.... then realized that I was messing with my stats and still had EVERYTHING going up and nothing going down, so i wasted at least 3k ingots. And my favorite oops moment happened over 15 years ago on OSI atlantic, where I accidentally ate @Katy 's new fruit basket rare she bought/found for our house. At the time, I think you could eat locked down food if i'm not mistaken. So there it was, sitting on the table or something, and as she was showing it to me, i accidentally double clicked it and ate it...burp! Awkward silence followed for a few seconds... then "Ooops..." . I made a point NOT to make the same mistake again when she got one here, so it's safe lol. I still crack up about that and the awkward silence that followed
My most recent oops was trying to transfer some dragons to @mikek85 and I hit my all kill macro while typing the transfer command. Needless to say.. both dragons got guard wacked!
Deciding to go with Jupiter for the first time on a quest. "Just don't die, Oni." Thought he said, "You won't die, Oni."
I was off to buy regs for a resisting spell party at the big mage shop in glow (the one that is full of npc's). I casted meteor swarm to see the highlighted regs to check which ones i needed (planning to cancel it right after), and I totally forgot I had the spell casted and meteor swarmed all the mages there and people buying the regs. And of course I got insta guard wacked with a lot of regs on me!... (and ty @Lightshade and your dad for the rescue btw!)
I've targeted myself a few times casting Corp Por in the final moments of a battle (PvM and PvP) OR maybe more often casting an EV in Wind for a drag and hitting the wrong spot thus I was the target! (those small, tight corridors can be difficult to navigate when half asleep and trying to get dispel or invis up )
While looting Ariadne's 1st place house contest winning fortress, Random, my partner in crime, gated himself out and wasn't able to return fast enough. Back then, I had not enough magery to cast a gate in order to get him back inside, thus I stealthed through the house, found her very nice decorated library and looted gate scrolls. Back on the other side of the fortress, out of the range of her toons, I was able to get Random inside again. During that same house looting event, we both hit the 125 item limit on our toons and were forced to leave stuff like potted plants (too heavy, too!) back. I even had to drop my scissors and other tools. Nobody of us were prepared for such a massive building full of rares.
NEVER asume that! Hahahaha Similar to that, in another shard I removed chumbucket from my ban list... My most Oops moment would have to be letting GFed bridged triple towers fall in UOSA.
Most recently, hunting some thief on Occlo. Fell for the old "same name, not perma grey alt" trick and attacked the guy's alt without using forensics first to be sure. Got whacked and lost a verite runic war mace and whatever else I had on me. Twas lols.
Another tale was when I was new on this server. Me and sniznatchian were fighting a group of TT outside of moonglow. The group got sniz surrounded and me thinking I would be smart instead of casting g heal I castes invisibility. TT stopped casting and started laughing at my noob ass. And then proceeded to kill sniz. I ran for my life shortly after and, never tried to invis anyone ever again.
that's not an oops, that's a relief! and I'm not saying that as anti-shard propaganda. i mean that too much personal real estate in UO is a killer! Minimalize to thrive!
