Hail! Welcome! Come take a seat...
It delights me to announce the 2016 Halloween Thieving Contest! May the best thief win.

    WHEN: October 24th @ Noon EST - November 9th @ Noon EST
**end date subject to extend if needed to cover the entirety of the shard events**

JUDGING: The Contest will be judged by yours truly, under the following criteria:
    1. Value of theft
    2. Difficulty of theft
    3. Halloween Themed( ie. Halloween items, overland event, or instanced event)
    4. Storytelling (to include pictures and/or Video evidence)
RULES: The rules are that the theft must be legitimate (not staged with your buddy) and the theft must be documented by picture or video proof. These thefts must also be CURRENT, nothing that happened prior to the start of the contest. Each participant can submit as many posts as they desire, but may NOT place on the podium more than once. For example, if you win 1st Place, your other posts are not eligible to win 2nd and 3rd.

    PRIZES:

    • 1st Place: 1 Million Gold Pieces!
    • 2nd Place: 50 Platinum Pieces
    • 3rd Place: 100,000 Gold Pieces
**mystery prize will be awarded to the 1st individual to post a current Home Burglary after the start of the contest**
Trophies have NOT been confirmed with @Chris yet, but will post when I find out.

    1st Place: @BlackEye - Villa Heist
    • Congratulations on this win my friend, well deserved! As far as difficulty and sheer value, it doesn't get much more difficult than a home robbery worth roughly ~3.5mil gold pieces. While receiving a lower score in the "Halloween Theme" category (Corrupted plate being the only relation), your story telling was more than sufficient!
    1,000,000 Gold Pieces

    2nd Place: @SteelyDan - 8 Holiday Coin Steal
    • A lovely tale it was. While your other submission may have been of higher value, the story-telling here was the best entry of its kind. You have a way with words my friend!
    50 Platinum Pieces

    3rd Place: @Natasha - Surfer Statue Snag
    • A newcomer submission is always welcome! An interesting and risky steal it was, before the very eyes of the town guards and town crier (a 10 stone item at that!).
    100,000 Gold Pieces

still time to create your thief! link to guides for macro'ing basic skills needed

    STEALING- http://uorforum.com/threads/renaissance-guide-to-gm-stealing.2139/

SNOOPING- just macro snooping an npc's pack or another character

HIDING- macro yourself hiding repeatedly with a 10sec break

STEALTH- Must have 80 hiding** http://uorforum.com/threads/stealth.1223/

These are the 2 necessary skills to disarm
WRESTLING- "Equip another character with high AR armor and put a weapon in their hands that they have 0 skill with. Hit them until you get to 81.0 shown skill, then equip them with a weapon they are GM with and continue to get the last 19 points. Having high dexterity significantly speeds up this process."
ARMS LORE- macro using arms lore on a weapon in your pack with a 10 second break

I don't have a thief and I despise "griefing" playstyles, but I LOVE the idea of creating "alternative" competitions for non-traditional PvP-PvM builds. Will also provide a GREAT oportunity to thief hunters to get out there and try to stop this! I for one will most definitely be out patrolling for thieves!

Pockets, thank you for hosting this contest! This is great and should spark up some new thieves. I look forward to seeing everyone's entries.

The last thieving contest was hosted by Blackeye so it should be very interesting to see what UOR's best thief can do. He is for sure the man to beat. You all follow thieving perfected, right?

Good luck to all and I shall be on the hunt to acquire some goods! All of my earnings will go to the next fishing thieving contest!

With a little bit of a coordinated effort with @The Crooked Warden you could run a separate event to hunt the thieves. If TCW requests the registry of thief character names for this event, you could run a parallel event for whoever returns the highest number of registered thief heads. Just an idea.

Okay, let's start this contest like a real smooth operator.

A little bit of town scouting brought me to this point:

    Stalking.jpg

Fancy horse, right? I waited out their short conversation. Please notice the proof of l33t hax0r skillz in the bag of our True Brittanian fellow.

Blueish horse and rider recalled. Remains Atiki.

After 3 min, he opens his bank account and starts sorting some very shiny looking golden items in his bag. Outside of his bank vault.

Well, that invitation can't go unanswered. A quick decision, which bag is the most valuable, and a golden bag full of goodies has been transfered at one swoop. (No screen.)

One teleport later, I was out of the annoying copzone, dancing through the shadows with my newly acquired jewelry.

Turns out, a 2nd anniversary necklace was even included beside the two 4th anniversary bracelets. I sure didn't expect that.

    So shiney!

I suppose those shiny things can't be stolen if they are just in your main backpack, right?

that's why I'm saying you should always detect, especially when you are planning to make a gate to x-mas event from the balcony of your house....

and punish those sneaky persons.... ;)

I dont want to discuss that too much, but just one thing: I wouldn't be too proud about killing a unmounted thief 1on2 after failing to get him alone with a mare. I will definitely remember that dishonorable fight, cutting up the corpse and the looting.

Back to the topic, Atiki was at the bank and DH definitely wouldn't have helped him, but right, mistakes have been made.

When dealing with thieves, I don't give a rat's ass about "honorable". I just want the thief's f'in head.

I would never be in a private house where a gate is cast. So I wasn't there. Just speaking generally.
