How are these values after you adjust them for damage modifiers and armor ratings? I tried doing simulations on valorite LJ weapons years ago against armored targets and came out of it deciding that LBA/battle axe were the same weapon and produced the best numbers. I think the consensus changed to preferring double axes later on however. i've always liked long spears in pvp i would say one takeaway from this is never use pitchforks, hatchets or other silly weapons regardless of what crooks or blaise tell you and archery dps is garbo
... found some armor absorption info, plugged it in and ranked all weapons vs 30 armor on a "one minute, all swings hit" control. I did NOT include LJ bonus. I'm testing in game and taking a very hard look at the viking sword now that I've (at least I think I do) have figured out armor absorb.
Yes, when Chris implemented the real dice rolls the double axe immediately jumped to the top in my (Excel work)book. wylwrk I am guessing you didn't factor in dice rolls, which is crucial to do when considering armor that absorbs damage.
This spreadsheet and Test are out of date. @Chris has said when Test gets patched, we can have combat books back to do some real testing
2 handed macing is my favorite. Really nothing more satisfying then beating something down with a crushing blow from warhammer or bashing them over the head with a staff repeatedly. Outside of that the only other correct answer could be using a fully forted silver vanq club loaded with tactics, taking on the role of captain caveman and making lich lords look silly.
I seem to remember macing being more lethal in this era on osi, doing massive damage to armor and breaking it. Does it deal that kind of wear and tear on armor here?
Viking swords do decent dmg here but are also a bit slow, I think it's why most lean towards broad/katanas for 1h swords
Hatchets are garbage but pitchforks are the only fencing weapon that cannot be stolen yet still deliver a paralyzing blow. Not to mention the bonus hit to your victim's pride knowing they just got poked to death by a farm tool. Thanks for the mention though. My LJ always rocks the double axe for it's speed over the potential larger damage numbers of an LBA. Katana on the side because it's still broken (faster than a kryss is wrong). My macer always has a war hammer and typically a club or war axe but I like the club because it looks cooler. lol I often keep a qstaff on hand because they grape pretty good too. My fencer I prefer the long spear, I hate the way the short spear appears over your character on screen and side arm is always the warfork because it's stupid strong for a one-hander. Archers I almost never run anything but bows unless I'm trying to drop big hits on something or I have a slayer heavy x, though the regular crossbow is better DPS from what I understand.
Heavy Crossbow Quatrerstaff, Hammer-pick Double Axe, Viking sword Dp'd newb dagger *honorable mention: In Jux Hur Yelm I just never liked the look of the kat's.
Against something with 60-70 AR the warfork is likely far preferable no? against lich or lich lords, maybe even daemons i forget their AR, a katana will be not only a little bit better but alot. But with too much mitigation the war fork will still hit like a mitigated 2 hander rather than a neutered katana,or am i wrong? Have done extensive testing with many vets here just this week regarding this exact question. Best overall weapon, It came down to the AR of the mob ,and for one handers katana or war fork. Higher the AR and Total HP the better the warfork was. Lich lord or lich, Silver katana of vanq ate through them like butter, War fork too,and not at all far behind but,,,behind, On a balron or ancient wyrm/shadow wyrm better bring that warfork though unless you wanna see your 5 damage hit double to 10 lol(i exaggerated only a little there haha).
Try against 30 ar and again against 60 then 70. See if results change as AR goes up. Thats what i found. A great weapon became only good due to the high AR. Short Spear,Spear,Double axe (Without LJ bonus),katana,Viking Sword,War fork... those are the weapons i would suggest to use in the experiment to get a wide test group of weapons all considered good. how different weapons roll their average dmg with multiple die rolls and how a higher min, average and max damage per hit on a weapon that on paper due to speed might still loose out, will still outpace what you thought was the best weapon, versus that AR due to consistent higher damage roll and higher max damage playing into the Slayer double damage to produce ..results you might not expect. Great work btw, great research so far!
War Fork > Kryss all day e'ery day (Dagger is better for interrupts, War Fork hits like a fast truck)
what i thought and have found exactly too,if you replace kryss with katana. Exception are ultra low armor mobs like liches, with too little HP and AR for the warfork to shine.
