I still have mine from VII... I suppose I had them all at one time and may still have them, but I have no idea where they are nowadays. Great video. Thanks! Glad to see there are some old-school Ultima fans here on Renaissance!
I grew up with the series... I still play them today... I too have had all the maps at one point or another... I know almost every nilk and cranny of these games as well as the majority of the original ultima history..
I didn't play the original games. I started with UO and that later 3D one that came out (Ascension?) which rubbed me the wrong way. I think there's a real lack of ultima history/lore on the internet. Just things pertaining to the world, characters, towns, etc. I find it surprising.
Here's from the Ultima Codex on the project I'm working on. http://ultimacodex.com/2016/10/the-ultima-6-exult-remake-update-on-the-project/ And here's the main codex page that can catch you up on ALL things Ultima, If you can't find it here, then it doesn't exist! http://wiki.ultimacodex.com/
I love watching the Spoony Ultima reviews; especially where he has a meltdown during the Ultima 9 review.
THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!! There was no such thing as a ninth installment of the Ultima series! There is no such thing as Ultima: Ascension! SAY IT!!! SAY IT NEVER HAPPENED!!! *curls up in a ball in the corner sobbing '...it never happened. ...it never happened.'* *ahem* Pardon the outburst. I have some strong feeling on EA's decision to whore out the series for one more game after the rights changed hands. In my opinion, if it wasn't originally produced by Richard Garriot himself, then it ain't Ultima! So, I stand by my original statement: IT NEVER HAPPENED! (Behold! the power of Denial!) Sppony's review pretty much sums it up: BETRAYAL!!! As for the lore content online, @Pegbyter is right. There are lots of great resources. He already mentioned http://wiki.ultimacodex.com/ but I also encourage you to take a look into http://ultima.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page as well. Both are great resources for Ultima history, but I tend to lean towards the former, as well. And, for the hardcore fan, there are also some brilliant parodies and hilarious fan-made walk-through sites. I recommend http://lparchive.org/Ultima-VII-The-Black-Gate/Update 1/ for U7, which is a hilarious walk-through of my favorite game in the series. I also recommend http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/2011/09/ultima-iv-part-2-what-happend-in.html which is just... sOooOOoOooo WRONG! (But in a good way!) If you like the walkthrough for U4.2, you can download and play the actual game here: http://www.80sgaming.org/ultima-parody/ Enjoy!
