it does not matter whether you look into the bag or not, you can uncover both by using the reveal spell (depends on remoteness) and by using detect hidden (the percentage of probability depends on your skills to hide and the skill of the one who opened it)! When I work, I very often use the skill Detect Hidden, but this skill has a percentage of non-disclosure!
My hiding is Gm, so you're saying snooping a bag can reveal you? I was not revealed from detect hidden or reveal spell.
You someone raztektil applying skill Detecting Hidden, I open bags very often and with me this did not happen, I was found only with the help of a spell or skill! Just looking in the bag you can not open automatically! Only if you have already begun to use the theft!
Then it is a bug and needs looking into. I am not a thief, only snooping for dex gains, but notice it was revealing me.
I wonder, I do not even know what caused it! Maybe just the reason is that you are not a thief and do not belong to a guild of thieves ... hmm @The Crooked Warden @OptimisticSam
Not sure if its intended to work like this but it seems that SOME of the time it reveals you when you fail to snoop. I tried with a GM hiding character and 0 snooping, about 50% of the time I was revealed when failing to snoop.
Just another way of weakening thieves I suppose. I'll tell you another thing I find suspicious.... There have been countless times a person would run away or recall as soon as my thief char who does have GM snooping, starts to snoop their pack. I mean COUNTLESS. There aren't that many coincidences. It's almost as they've received a message that I'm attempting to snoop their pack, which a GM snooper should never be caught snooping.
It's era accurate guys. On OSI they had a patch note that introduced revealing sometimes when snooping. The details were not in the patch note, but it allowed reveal when failing. Fortunately GM snoopers never fail so it is not a big deal. If you're stealthily snooping someone, you should have GM snooping. If you're just some sort of PVP thief with a melee skill etc, then GM snoop isn't a big deal and you would be fine with like 60-70. Not really a bug, and I think it's balanced how it is to force sneaky thieves to lose 50 skill points and allow brute thieves to get an extra 50.
I'f I'm at a bank, or anywhere to be honest with you, and someone I dont know comes and stands on the tile next to me......I'm moving or leaving that spot. There's what 15 banks I can go to? Thousands of tiles collectively around the banks that allow you access to your bank box and 200 or so active players not afk or plat collecting...there's plenty of space to NOT be standing next to a player. So logic would allow us to perceive that if someone's standing next to you, they're already in your pack and could potentially steal something (if youre in town) and if youre in a dungeon or out of town, same thing with the addition of the potential that they might be about to attack you. Just bounce. If you see a mark, get the paper doll up from a distance, double click the pack, then slowly walk past them or run past them holding down your last object macro, theyre pack will open, you're not near them and you're not being bait as shit.
I'm sorry, I meant to say while I was hidden. So my point was, if I'm hidden, and snooping with gm snooping, why are they leaving and recalling out? As far as they know, nothing is going on. Right?
Because they're pros and no one with anything worth stealing in there pack is spending more than 5 seconds at a bank making a deposit or withdrawing unless they have too. If you bank in Ocllo you're rolling the dice anyway. I know you lurk there and Skara haha Im confident it's just coincidental in your case dude.
