I don't think you can recall off of a COPY of a boat key. Unless I'm mistaken, you can only recall on one of the original keys that you get when you place the boat.

Really? My guys recall of a steel one in my fisherman's house, with the gold one in his bank box. Is that likely to be an original key, then?

If you are killed on your boat can you still issue commands so you can get back to town and get a res? Can you put down the gang plank as a ghost?

As long as there are no living characters on the boat, a ghost should be able to control it as normal. I believe you can put the plank down as a ghost. I've never tried, but it seems like you should be able to, or you'd be stuck on the boat.
