I realize platinum is out of vogue at the moment, and that is despite the sudden 20% drop in its value relative to gold. Nevertheless, I'm seeing more and more "gold only" auctions these days. I find this surprising because such auctions — particularly for multi-million items — will inevitably attract fewer buyers/bidders, which will generally lead to lower prices.

Prices will go down anyway. Such are unstable markets.

I would think, and I can speak for myself, that the gold only auctions are for newer players that will benefit more from gold than they would with platinum currently.

It might attract less bidders, but its certainly a better currency for me at the moment.

Won't prices go down because more wealth is created as a result of more items being farmed as opposed to decaying?

Plat decreased due to supply and demand. There were back to back champs being farmed which spiked the influx of plat, however a lot of people on here are set as far as runebooks / ethys.

Maybe it’s just me, but I am pretty numb to any pixels on here anymore. It’s just not very exciting. I’m more interested in functional items. I really wish we could get at least a couple new ethys, such as polar bear or other, as well as some new simple plat rewards such as a blessed keyring. I still don’t understand why we can have rideable polar bears during Christmas, but ethys all of the sudden become a ‘targeting issue’.

@Pill a blessed keyring is possibly the best suggestion I've heard for a plat reward ever.

Please tease me further with a suggested plat price....

Pricing with plat can get confusing. Valuing it higher is actually better for the seller, whereas valuing it lower might look good but it just means you need to pay more if you use it.

I peeped your fort last night...I too would be numb to pixels! Can I bask in your numbness?

The key ring idea is great! Any other ideas out there?

I would say something on-par with what runebooks are currently, as you would need 1 per character. It would just take away the tediousness of having to manually use your locked down key (or use a macro as a lot do) to open and relock your door. I think anyone with any common sense able to afford something like this has enough wit not to carry their house key on them anyways, so..ya.

I have basically limitless ideas. I mean hell, I have been playing this game for over half of my life, which is kind of scary to say lol. And of that time, I have spent the majority of it doing PVP, so when it comes to that aspect, I definitely know what works balance-wise. It's just hard to build that case to the boss ;) .

    I'd prefer this

redirect your desire / skill in pixel allocation

sometimes influence is a matter of disposition, not position ;)

I view plat being pegged to gold.. gold value wont "decrease", gold is gold. However if people only accept gold on items (that are like , 5+ Mill) its hard for most people to round up that kinda cash, thus limiting the bids.

There are no gold syncs in the game, so it's basically traded with players. Like Merlin said, I don't see items dropping in value a whole lot. Other then items that get hype'd with events ect.
