Calling all blacksmiths and their apprentices! We at the Center have a problem and need your help urgently! With the dangerous Urks nearby our guards are in need of armor. Unfortunately it gets worse. Our forges are in the West tower. The cantankerous old quartermaster requires that we store all arms and armor in the Center tower. No, wait, it gets even messier. Our ingot shipment came in but those lazy caravan drivers delivering the ingots from the mines in Minoc delivered the ingots to the East tower...something about union regulations and the Urks eating their pack animals... The blacksmiths and their apprentices will be handed an order for a suit of armor of a desired ore type, our guards like to look flashy, and will be given 50 ingots. Now, 50 ingots wont get you very far so I hope your apprentices wore their running sandals because they will have to run and get you more from the East tower. However, due to all the shady characters trying to pass off shoddy goods in the past, our quartermaster won't release more ingots without having armor in hand. So to get more ingots your apprentice must first deliver the completed GM-marked pieces to him at the armory in the Center tower where he will be given a manifest to release another 50 ingots from the stores in the East tower. Oh yeah, for security reasons the doors to the towers will remain locked so you will have to go up and over. Apprentices will have to be wary, because the other apprentices will be trying to impress their masters with their ingot-fetching prowess and may throw up obstacles to delay their counterparts. Only the fastest and most productive teams will advance to the final round. The first teams to deliver their orders complete to the quartermaster will advance to the next round. The rules: No combat or damaging spells of any kind. Strictly blocking only. No mounts or summons allowed. Ingots will be provided, no cheating by bringing extra. Number of teams allowed to advance in each round is subject to the number or teams competing. Final round will consist of the 3 remaining teams. As usual, rules subject to change or additions because I typically forget something. Teams must consist of 2 unique players, not one guy running 2 clients. The prizes: First Prize is 20 platinum pieces awarded to the winning team to be split at their discretion Second Prize is 16 platinum pieces to be split at the team's discretion Third Prize is 12 platinum pieces to be split at the team's discretion. If I can sweet talk Telamon into some trophies, maybe that too. When: Sunday, March 9th Yeah, but when Sunday?: 7pm CST Where: Sosarian Event Center across from Compassion Desert. Hope to see you there! Credit for this event goes to that clever old wizard Jupiter for coming up with the idea and to Edward Teach who gave away his possessions upon departing the shard, the prize purse is the 48 plat he gave to me.
If there are any smiths who need/want an apprentice, let me know. I can send Kiln the Dwarf! (he really enjoys running long distances and is in need if exercise!)
Thats 5pm Pacific and 8pm Eastern (I messed myself up last time and missed the event so hoping this helps others avoid my folly)
Grah!!...dat armur nub halp uu!!! Weems clomp awl umies an grub en da wai!!!!! UMIES GED REDDI TU GED CLOMPED!!!! NOOOOGRRAAAHH!!!!
I am going to pose the question here so that we can address it before the day of the event: Can folks 'multi-client' their apprentice (e.g. 1 player use both his Smith and an alt to participate?) I would strongly recommend a separate player as an apprentice as the fun value will be increased if you participate with somebody as opposed to alone. Ningauble could you post your final say in the matter here so that it is clarified? If you are a smith and you feel you will have trouble finding an apprentice, I suggest using this event post as a 'Help Wanted' board to ask for apprentices. Please note Apprentices are not required to have any skills other than being capable of walking and bearing heavy loads. If you have a character that meets these prerequisites you are more than welcome to offer your apprenticeship to any smiths in need.
Having an apprentice that can throw a wall of stone or an energy field or at least dispel one would be a plus however.
I wish I could see this but a family dinner can't be avoided... If anybody has ADD and wants to post pics mid event I'd be much obliged!
Tonight's event winners: First place and a win of 20 platinum and trophy hammer: Dwani and Zorn Second place and a win of 16 platinum and trophy hammer: Ultros and Gustav Thirst place and a win of 12 platinum: John Lithgow and Aeon Tyde Thank you to all participants for coming! Your support means a lot. Thank also to the Urks and others for providing such sport outside while not disturbing the event itself. You guys are great!
