Still won’t happen as this isn’t a class that is respected by staff.

First is instanced events that encourage solo play.

Second is this fabled CUB system with fancy decor.

    Third is taming changes.

    Cycle back to one.

If you feel that way, cool. You dont need to constantly bring it up. It doesnt add anything to anything. Just seems like whining.

And your constant attempts at bringing new content or new ideas that aren’t new. Use the search function. They’ve just fallen on def ears for years and it’s annoying.

    You stop. I stop.

    @FreeHugger

It's not my thread, the initial ideas are not mine and, last: the deaf ears you are referring to belong to the same person that brought up this specific content type to me after I showed interest in helping out. So, wrong, wrong and wrong. :)

It appears as though you're shitty that what you want has never been implemented and therefore, you encourage others to stop trying to develop their own ideas.
As in the other thread, "I wanted X but that didn't happen, so Y won't happen, give up!"

If I'm wrong, what IS the point of your posts?

It’s not X, it’s anything. Any promise at all. CUB, moats, that shit doesn’t interest me but it’s been “the next patch” for over a year and a half.

If it takes that long for new content that 98% of the server craves and has been saving/waiting for...(just look at how many towers and large houses are strictly for CUB)

Imagine how long it’ll take for a patch like this that almost nobody would really want in comparison.

You’re entitled to your opinion and I mine. I’ve gotta read your full-of-hope bullshit so you’ve gotta read mine

You don't have to read this thread at all. If you're not interested, then don't read it or comment on it. It's really quite simple.
Instead, you come in to content addition or mechanic related threads simply to tell people it won't happen. That doesn't make any sense.

If you don't have an interest in something, don't participate in it.

All you are doing is telling people to give up. If you want to give up, fine, no problem, but don't come in here and start telling others to do the same.

I’ll decide what I do and do not do.

In the mean time, keep it up pal! You’re doing great work. Really meaningful and impactful. Getting lots done here.

I hope one day I feast on my own words but I doubt I will.

Geez you really are full of yourself. A lot more would get done around here without people like you whinging constantly. I know for a fact things get dropped further and further to the bottom of the list the more frequently people bitch about it.

@Rextacy Yeah it's old. Someone else necro'd it and conversation fired up again. I don't see any problem with discussing things. As I've said, if people aren't interested then they shouldn't click the link in the first place. It seems some folks here just like to whinge about everything they want instead of playing the game and enjoying what we have.

There is literally no harm in discussing potential content additions. Unless those whining people are scared their content and/or changes will get bumped further down the list than it already is? I don't understand why anyone who hasn't got an interest in the proposed content would start posting in such a thread. 100% illogical, or alternative agenda driven. On top of it, they then start throwing around words intended to insult people who are interested in the topic being discussed.

Some moderation of threads would go a long way toward keeping this sort of insane thread derailment out and useful discussion could then take place.

Is discussion useful if there has never been action?

    Deep philosophical question there.

Also, don’t get heated. It’s unbecoming of you.

Discussion is always useful. At best it gets things done, at worst it highlights differences of opinion and allows people with similar values and morals to band together for more meaningful discussions.

As for being heated, I'm rarely anything more than relaxed. When you post stuff like below:

I'm not going to just let you talk that way. Take a look at your own words and actions before telling me mine are unbecoming. As I've said before, you just appear to be whining when you act this way.

How long I have been here is irrelevant to the thread, much like you are.
If you want an account age, its 1,438 days old, a simple search of the uorenaissance site would reveal that.
If you want to know how long I've been on the forums its clearly visible under my name.

You speak as though you yourself are a veteran, yet I see your forum account was only created mid 2017... why is that? Get banned for this sort of nonsense?

You're very adept at totally ignoring what I say and targeting me personally. Not that there's any specific talent required for that.

Why don't you just stick to the topic in the title of the thread, or, if you have no interest as is apparent, don't click on it.

Guess what happens then? Surprise, surprise! You won't have to read my or anyone else's "full-of-hope bullshit".

    You’re cute. Haha.

I appreciate your misplaced optimism but I’m going to continue to feel and post this way until something, anything changes.

I think any thief content needs to place a thief where other opportunities to steal from other players will natually arise. Basically as a thief you have to make the decision, am I going to sit around and basically do nothing while I stalk and wait for human prey, or should I just go play UO on another character? If the new thief content puts a thief at lets say popular spawn points like blood elementals or elder gazers, then the thief could do both. Do the thief content while being in an area where traditional stealing against other players would/could take place.

I agree, the content should get thieves out and about in the world, but not just to good thieving spots. I would also like to see players discover some classic rogue type areas as they do this content. By that I mean, areas like The Salty Dog basement in East Brit, Yew Prison, Covetus(?) storage room.

I think we can easily achieve both, and more. The requirements for adding quests of a similar style once the first one is in, are very very small.

Things along the lines of "A rare substance is rumored to exist deep within X location, if you can acquire this and survive, deliver it to our fence at Y location for a great reward". Or some such :)

I hope we can avoid another thread that devolves into name calling and dick measuring.

We all want more content, let's focus on what that could look like - even if the chances are small it is implemented, sometimes the act of a civil discussion around what would be cool scratches a little of the itch...

My interactions with thieves on this server can be summarized by either mildly to hilarious instances with sometimes semi-RPing thieves that genuinely made me laugh or being chased around a moongate or bank by a guy riding a horse.

My opinion of thieves, sans the ones blocking the moon gates trying to steal my uber mace of noob, are that theyre usually some of the more honest players and sometimes fun to be around, when I'm not mourning the loss of my stolen goods of course.

If any proposed changes brought more of the former I'd be all for them. I'd wager that they could easily bring more of the latter and I could see how that could bring about nerfs, or at the very least sway public opinion even more. If there was any correlation between adding content and nerfs I believe that's where it would likely be found.

@Killian That's a shame about your experiences with thieves. Well, perhaps not a shame as you don't seem to be losing out to them very often. :p

Regarding these thieves charging around on horseback chasing people... I've seen this talk before, it has made me wonder... who ARE these folks? I know of one that uses a horse, although I'm not too sure it's the best practice for making repeated good steals. If they're that common, then, I'm amazed. I am rarely on my ethy when making a steal, in fact I'm rarely seen up until the point I'm making my get away.

Come to think of it, why don't you just kill them and tell them they're a terrible thief? :D
Then again, they could be trying to pull off the mugger type "thief", that is simply baiting you in to attacking by snooping repeatedly and intentionally having bad snooping so you see it.

I think changes could definitely cause a bit of a crapfest, for sure. Content however, I don't think it's very likely.

From the sounds, I think perhaps the thief community I speak to daily and/or am in touch with should perhaps start playing the enforcer. Get a few of these terrible thieves off the streets so they stop giving us a bad name!

One sign of a good thief, imo, is: You see your plat / hc / runic or otherwise valuable item is suddenly gone from your pack and all you see is their name, real or disguised, disappearing. *grin*

Anyway, back on topic. Do you think adding content in the form of quests of various types and an end game style instance would increase or decrease this type of activity? I think it'd decrease it. Although there are a few ways to look at it. e.g. The concept of a phase where actual stealing from marks is required to progress, I doubt these types would get very far, but it might encourage them to block gates in an attempt to snoop every person that uses them to find X item.

Anyway, it seems part of the problem with these folks can be solved by good old UO gameplay - kill them dead! :p

Did they increase the weight of war mace? I couldnt steal one because it was too heavy. I only remember Halberd and one other weapon being to heavy in original ren.
