If you have a machine with 12+ GB of Ram and a decent video card and a semi average understanding of proxy servers and a common knowledge of routers you could easily run 15 accounts from one PC without setting off any visual flags.

Now, if you have 15 chars sitting in one house and only 1-2 are moving at a time, you are dumb and will get caught and should get caught.
But if you have 15 chars in 15 different houses and your characters rarely interact with each other... you could do it fine.

You are correct...but all it would take is one slip-up and you are toast. For example, while at work before I have picked up my laptop (logged into UOR macroing something) and walked to a meeting and while I moved the connection momentarily was interrupted and the VPN dropped. Since I wasn't really doing anything shady from a UO perspective (although now my work's IT department knows that I briefly visited something called uorenaissance.com) it doesn't really matter. I could have done a few things to protect against this (VPN kill switch, etc.) but to me even if I were willing to cheat in order to get extra rewards platinum or hoard more than 15 houses (I think even having 15 houses is ridiculous unless you are a guild master or something) it still wouldn't be worth the risk of being caught, because I am prone to doing stupid/careless things sometimes.

Let me use this opportunity to state for the record that I use a VPN that could possible utilize shared IP addresses. So far I haven't received any messages from Chris about it but it is possible at some point anther user could be assigned the same IP address as me in the pool and we would both be on the same IP address at the same time, or different times. But 95% of my game play is from my home IP address without using a VPN.

I did networking from 1993-2001.
Currently I program and support software at many locations.
I could, potentially log on to each server at each of my locations and create a minimized virtual server and run 3 accounts per location (different IPs, no masking), and that would give me 216 characters logged in 24/7 gathering plat.
But...if I did, eventually I would transfer that plat to my main account... which is how you get caught.

Other than people maxing out 3 accounts with 5 reds each and not wanting to play a red sometime, I dont see the purpose (other than farming afk plat) in having more than 3 accounts. 15 characters are hard to justify.

My interaction with Mes was always across the battlefield.
When I hung with ebola and lint, they were constantly in battle.
Other than thinking he was a decent pvper, I have no opinion.

Pork Fried Rice I respect as PKer.
While these current red PKers I think are pretty sorry, I often died to Pork.
He would only dry loot me one time a night, and still would leave me something.
These current PKers have yet to kill me. They kinda suck.
