His edit was before your post. Players are welcome to edit their posts if they change their mind, want to change a bid etc. However all edits are timestamped by the server. The staff can also see the complete history of post edits in the event of a dispute should a thread owner wish to question that. That said quoting someone and giving them a hard time is not needed as anyone can edit a quote falsely to create drama and it serves nothing to progress the players auction along. As with all trade posts, as per our rules, the conduct in a trade post is the responsibility of the thread starter. This post was started light on the details other than a duration, no comment of bids only please etc. Always be clear in your trade forum posts if you wish them to stay orderly. If you don't state "Bid's only" all off topic conversation, discussions about the sale, players involved in the sale are of course fair game. Case in point: this thread. We have test center for this, but in this case I do not believe it does. People are allowed to make new forum accounts, stop using old ones, or more recently ask that the staff change their forum name. Given the hostility between players, this thread can be an example of that, it is common for older players to make a new account and switch to that. While other players have one account for lively discussions elsewhere and another account to conduct trade activities in private. In this case the player in question did contact me and alerted me to the change. He was previous contacted because we detected both accounts were at one point used in the trade forum (not nefariously) when we updated our rules policy to place more strict regulation on trade activities. Realistically it is up to each player to bid in auctions they trust. We live in an era of VPN's and endless throw away IP addresses. If an auction does not seem on the up and up to you, if the seller seems fishy, if bidders are fishy, then walk away. Report the thread if you are concerned and are certain of misconduct. Just do not waste volunteer time reporting every trade thread with people you do not like in it. Nor do not expect a response from the staff on our findings. If we find misconduct it will be dealt with appropriately. Public shaming of players accomplishes nothing and everyone should be considered innocent until proven otherwise. I lack the time to clean up the slapfight in the last two pages of this thread. However players should take heed my advice. Seller - Start a much more detailed auction next time, we hope you return to UOR in the near future. Bidders - Place your bid, be honest and use a single account in the trade forums. Trash talk between players should be left in the trash talk subforum. Instead of questioning another players bids simply stand your ground. If you bid XX gold, and thats your highest bid. Make that statement and stand by it. If someone outbids you with phantom funds then the seller, like any auction, will go to the next highest bidder to complete the transaction. Trading insults accomplishes nothing other than derailing the thread.
Nothing to defend. I was speaking generally on forum conduct. Players in general should never judge another player on a quote Because with a bit of editing you could have said . . anything. Seriously though quotes do reference the original post and user id for tracking.
I knew you had edited it after the fact Scuba but had no way to prove it. I saw your edit in real time. DramaLama. Thanks Chris.
Well, thanks to <edited> @Air for derailing this thread. Do you even have a job dude or do anything of value? To bidders, considering the attention to this spot and all the shit throwing, can you just confirm your best bids are valid? I have a feeling the troll air managed to knock the price down for everyone...
I was looking to place a fort, so no, now that Airs got a blocker he wants 20 mil for I'm not too keen to drop 25 mil on this spot, it's an oversight on my part, I tried to place a SST there after I copped the L tower and adjoining SST and couldn't catch it SO I wrongly assumed nothing would fit. If you want to revert to @JohnM 's 19 mil bid I'll make it up to 25 mil cause I feel bad on you losing 6 mil due to Airs mental breakdown. I just don't need a keep my guy. I need a fort. It's up to @JohnM If he doesn't want it I'll stick to my OG 25 mil bid because I know your quitting and just wanna get yo cash and bail!
Here comes the bullshit train that we expected folks. These guys are friends and play together. Earsnots fort....with Valentina (a well know idocer that has rolled with Iderp for quite a while now) They had no intention of making each other pay full price anyways, now they want JohnM to bail them out. Now that I have my tinfoil hat on, I see it all Oh, and "<edited> Air" didn't knock any price down. Luckily, I was paying attention to what you were trying to do, shill bid for your buddy. The people are happy, once again, the citizens of Britania will live to fight another day without being scammed into paying 20+mill for a keep, without owning all blockers. (BTW, you think Erza would have sold you that villa? Nope). Go to subway and get you a sammich dawg. Oh and @merlin8666 , my new job title is "Trade Forum Police". Thanks for checking on me.
Just restart a new thread, make your guidelines nice and clear, accept only posts with bids, and lets see what the market value really is here and avoid the artificially inflated 20+mill that you two tried to pull off. GG
Holy crap. This is still going on? lol. Good read though while sipping my morning coffee! keep up the good work guys!
I used to despise posts like this. I thought they were a blight to the server. I also thought they might be driving Chris crazy. These days though I think sometimes the people just need to police themselves and things will work themselves out.
