[VaL] Renaissance Spring Faire (Saturday March 22) PvP Tourny

It is my pleasure to announce the first (hopefully seasonal/annual) [VaL] Spring Renaissance Faire!

This will be a single elimination PvP event series with single event winners and an overall Spring Faire Champion. (Inspired by the TKB Valentines Joust http://uorforum.com/threads/valentines-joust.4048/ and the movie A Knight's Tale)

Players may register 1 character for the tournament and have to use the same character if they want to participate in multiple events.

Post which character you are going to use as well as a link to the myrenaissance profile.

The events include 1v1 PvP elimination with every weapon skill, the winner of each individual event will receive a trophy and the top people will receive points that will be added together to determine the overall Spring Faire Champion who will receive a nicer plat trophy and some other prizes (to be announced based on what i can afford ).
In the event of a tie for overall Spring Faire Champion, a final death match will be arranged to determine the winner, there can be only one!

The events will include Archery (BOW), Fencing (KRYSS), Macing (MACE), and Swordsmanship (LONG SWORD).

All weapons and armor will be provided and for security purposes you will be required to enter as a ghost.

There will be no healing, stealing or casting allowed. This is a test of weapon skills mastery.

Once one of the combatants reaches 30% health the fight will be announced as over and the other combatant will be announced as the winner. Close calls will be determined by my journal and posted here for verification.

Times: TBD (will try to have it spread out so people from different time zones have a chance to participate)

I plan to start around 2pm EST (1pm CST, 12pm MTN, 11am PST) and based on participation run the next single event as soon as the first one is finished.

EXAMPLE:

Fencing contest: 2pm EST
Macing contest: 3pm EST
Archery contest: 4pm EST
Swordsmanship contest: 5pm EST

Entry fee: 5,000 gold pieces PER event.

Winner will receive 70% of the total single event pool

Runner up will receive 30% of the total single event pool


The overall points winner will receive a special reward on top of the trophy and will be crowned Spring Faire Champion.

As you will be entering as ghosts, participants will need to arrange a time to meet me prior to competing to submit the registration fee.

Suggestions and volunteers are greatly welcome and appreciated. I will be tweaking things as we get closer to the event since this is my first time organizing anything of this caliber, thanks for bearing with me.

Prize update:

Each Single event winner will receive 6 Platinum coins. The Spring Faire Champion will receive 10 Platinum coins.

The top overall winners will be able to choose from the following rewards, in order of placement, until the prizes run out:

5 piece sandstone table

3 piece sandstone table

5k Valorite Ingots

4k Horned Leather

3k Agapite Ingots + 1.5k Bronze Ingots

Awesome, you need to decide which character you are going to use. However I must note that no disarming or stealing will be allowed. This is a test of weapon skill mastery and no dark arts are permitted.

Your character can register for all the weapon skills events (or a combination of some) because even if you don't win the single event, you might get points that will go towards determining who will be the Faire champion getting extra platinum and first pick from the prize pool.

I got some unexpected extra work for the weekend so I will need to do all the events back to back, shortening the total time of the event. Depending on the level of interest it may be done in a couple hours only.

brilliant idea... I am going to say I can potentially make the swordsmanship duel signing up Jeremiah... This may or may not be possible I am unsure I will do my best.

Next time, if you are going to call it a faire I suggest you come up with a more faire esque setting with shops and grog etc I can help with that if your interested.

side note If I can attend can I use an axe instead of a sword?

How do you know there are no shops around?

I intended the area to be more developed before hosting but this month has been quite busy for me I can't even play from work recently, woe is me.

If I get enough positive feedback and participation I will gladly host another one soon after the area gets 'spruced up'.

As far as using an Axe, I am not sure because the lj bonus would wipe the floor with anyone who just has swords so perhaps we will have an axe event in the next Faire. Going to say no to axe this time, sorry Jeb.

Single event winner: 5 points
Single event runner up: 3 points
Single event semi finalist: 2 points

I will post a map shortly but its really easy to find. Follow the road north east out of East Britain and its the first large tower on the left side of the road.
