So, suddenly there's small house openings everywhere and we go from "50 active people" to thousands? Hmm.. I don't think so. Your agenda to attack wealthy players is showing. You really don't care about server population or new players.. Everyone knows that opening house spots is not going to directly bring new people to the server. When I first started playing here my first worry wasn't whether or not I could place a house. If I were to go to another server that wouldn't be my first concern either, nor would it directly affect whether I played there. I'm not happy that server population seems down either. Nobody is going to tell you that they are happy with that. The point that everyone in this thread is trying to convey into your extremely stubborn head is that this housing change will not magically bring people here. I would actually have more respect for you if you just came out and said you want change because the idoc people touched you in your private areas and you're sad about it. You want change because smart people did smart things and got very rich off of it. What you fail to realize is that they are following in the footsteps of the server owner and you're wasting your time. Over the years there have been dozens of Air's that come to the forums to bitch, moan, and complain about the idoc crew. It's always the same thing, just hidden under layers of salt with demands for change over many aspects of the game. In the end you all want one thing, the demise of the idoc crew, it's obvious. You could just try and compete with them, like with any other dominated aspect of this game. I tried my hand at rares once, I got showed the door. You don't see me coming to the forums demanding a change in rares because I couldn't compete and some people are getting uber rich off of them. You're being a baby. Wealthy people got wealthy because they committed hours upon hours upon hours to this silly little game. You got wealthy by doing the same just in a different aspect of the game. Premium properties will forever demand a premium price. That price was set a long time ago, and it wasn't originally by the idoc crew. Punt was the first person to list a fort at such a high price. You come to the forums, everyday, complaining about 7 people. Seven people cannot control this server, they can, however, control a market with no competition.
Personally I like IDOC crews. It keeps a healthy and fresh stream of new housing opportunities in the trade forum. Even if I am not in the market to buy or afford. It's fun to watch. Kind of like watching House Hunters or House Hunters International.
You go somewhere, say Moonglow, and see a cool spot that seems taken by a seemingly abandon house. You hit the forums, and find out 2-3 players own nearly all the entire houses on Moonglow and don't even live there. They aren't even willing to sell them. They are abandon property, owned for ownership sake. You created this thread. Makes me think the rules should be something like you can only own N houses within M tiles of each other.
I very quickly counted all the houses on Glow, there are 100 (including one that I own). 3 players own 100 houses? This is the kind of craziness that fuels hatred and conspiracy on the server. Perhaps 2-3 people own the PRIME spots on the island but for you to make such a claim that they own "nearly all" is careless to say the least.
This is true and perhaps I should not have said this. I never did an in depth study myself. Just basing on what I saw on forums. When I saw a Moonglow house pop up for sale (maybe just the good ones like you said), people kept @ mentioning the same person, I forget who it is, whom they called the "Mayor of Moonglow", so I just assumed this person owned all the prime spots in Moonglow.
You're still at it @Air ? Gosh, get over the fact that things aren't going your way. You're definitely not here to help "new players" with your 30m moonglow cabin, 18m blocker and refreshing your friends houses. Just walk the talk if you're going to chat shit. I've hosted 4 res events and will continue to roll more to actually benefit everyone, regardless if they hate me or not. Please, just shut up by now. You throwing your accusations and conspiracy theories isn't doing one bit to make this shard a friendlier place.
I just got to this server 2 months ago now. This is honestly the most populated server other than one I dare not speak of because its pay to win UO. I know of at least 30 people that play on a daily basis more than 2 to 4 hours a day. I also know anarchy plays on a daily basis from personal experience lmao. There has be at least 10 of them I get pked from about 5 times a day. You can ask them for verification. I think the numbers being thrown around are a bit low. There is also a few of us that are trying are best to get players to come to this shard. I know a few people who stream 4 or 5 times a week that have gotten new players here. For FS ive even made little flyers and put them around the college campus I live near. As far as the housing goes. I haven't seen a real issue in a new player not being able to get a home. IN FACT if you back track to sub days of UO you weren't getting a home bigger than a small for less then a mil. I honestly see no issue with the housing. Prime locations are always going to be held. If you want a prime location you really have to be willing to pay for it. There is always a number the other party will agree on or something you have that they value. I dunno I'm just putting my comments in here. Not trying to make enemies with what I'm posting but I'm just giving a different view on it. I love this shard. I'm tried many before getting here and I do not regret ever downloading it.
This for me is the issue. Not the smalls scattered around. One person owns the large tower spots. In addition to an Ocllo bank house. And a fort. And... and... and... I personally feel so many people take a prime spot they want but arent goung to live in and deco it or drop a half decent rune library and call it a service to the shard. How many crummy rune libraries do we need here?
LesClaypool - Public runelib tower NW (deco'd) Aris - second tower SW (deco'd) Air - log cabin ? Witchcraft - Sandstone shop (deco'd) Canis - Public vendor on east side glow (de co'd) BlackEye - two fence houses east side glow (semi deco'd) Pirul or someone similar vet-ish - North glow fence houses (no deco) Most of the lesser important houses are in constant fluctuation. I once placed the GY house myself because the spot was simply open... The market isn't dominated at all, afaik.
Witchcraft (Former Mayor of Moonglow) no longer plays. He distributed properties among friends who wanted them and the ones they did not want, he let drop. He made it clear to us that he is not returning to UO so there is no refreshing any of his homes for him with expected return *cue sad face*. Just dont want his name being tainted as he helped out a lot of people low-key. Proceed with thread
Two different people own the only two large tower spots on Glow. Les has more gold invested in that rune library tower than I probably own. I would say it's a fair use of a tower he doesn't "live in." I believe him and Avery also own one of the Occlo spots. They also paid an enormous amount to own that spot and run their vendors out of it. Also, I don't believe Les actually owns a fort, I think he's in a modest keep. It boggles my mind why anyone would have issue with one of the wealthiest and longest actively playing vets here owning a fair amount of real estate, and to be fair I think we're at only three properties for him.
If this turns into a communism versus capitalism versus socialism debate I'm gonna slap you all with a trout. Fair warning.
Don't you own all 4 small towers in that Trinsic hidden valley? And doesn't a player named ShadowJack own the entire Nujel'm housing operation? And who owns the abandoned houses at Magincia beach? I'm sure they are all owned by the same player. I would surely love to live there! This is what gets me, that a single player can "own" an entire area (nothing against you personally). Which is why I like the only N houses within M tiles solution. EDIT: Also slightly related, I remember when you left for a while, and none of your houses fell. Friends just refreshed them I suppose. Again, not pointing fingers, but just illustrating the "friend refresh" issue people are talking about.
