Only place I wouldn't suggest trying to place a house is Ocllo. The rest of the world is pretty open though huge doubt about something like a fort or keep, tower could be possible but smalls are very do able.
+1. Check out the road from skara brae to yew, beautiful location and plebty of spots for a small house, small stone towers.
There's 4 or 5 easy spots on moonglow island right now you could place yourself very easily, including 1 thats a few tiles from a guardzone. It's a lot of fun searching and trying spots out but if you're not having any luck Nusir already offered to help you out - take him up on the offer if you're struggling! Good luck!
