    This is how I remember it, so raising parry is best to use a buckler and walk around the woods making animals swarm you. I like parry for RP style

    Pretty much. I recently raised it by buying about 14 cats and letting them beat on my toon. Used some crappy armor and buckler shields and didn't have to use 1 bandaid. Very easy skill to raise and I can see its merit on the RP side of things.

    Yeah, I tamed 8-10 birds and gated them to a single trapped tile in a house, then had my toon with several crappy wooden shields on. GMed rather quickly, but those shields break fast.

    fwiw, the UOR playguide (which was packaged with the retail game) just says your attacker may miss if you're wearing a shield and the skill check is successful.
