Too long have our kind been discriminated against and it is no different here.

I recently did a test (I hadn't intended to do a test it kind of just developed). I found a guy at Serps Bank macroing hiding with 6 TBods on him. B/c he was macroing hiding it was a little difficult to throw up walls, reveal, snoop and steal so i really just resorted to reveal/steal and I found something interesting.

I'd always wait until the npc's were as far away as the town crier (7 tiles away). It took me 18 steal attempts to take the 6 TBods (12 guard-whacks). This is on a 1 stone item.

Now, any GM bard or tamer can pretty much take on any dungeon in the game single handed without too much of a problem. Yet a GM thief has a 33% chance to steal a 1 stone item with an NPC half across the screen. Sure 18 attempts isn't a super high test number but really 1 stone items should be like 90%.

This seems very broken to me.

P.S.: Please make 0 stone items directly stealable.

Alas! Another burdened wanderer finds himself among us, the lot of the downtrodden! I say yes! Let the mighty hear of our wrath! Let them taste our ressentiment! Fix stealing!

I agree. I get caught stealing way too often. What is the point of being gm stealing when it acts like you're at 80 skill level?

I don't think they care. It's becoming more and more apparent to me this is a place for PvM trammies. It's no wonder the PvP scene is practically non-existent.

It's a place for tamers, bards.

    Where fishing is considered fun.

Where runebooks aren't blessed but don't worry a thief can't target it.

Where you're virtually invulnerable from thieves at any bank because the NPC guards, bankers and town criers are capable of calling guards 85% of the time and are strategically placed to cover almost every area of every bank.

This critique of yours Logan is very important. There needs to be a shift in the Trammel.

My recollection of stealing on OSI is hazy at best, however I do remember that LOS/distance did effect whether NPC's would call guards. From when I played my thief a bit more actively, it did not seem as though LOS had much of an impact on whether an NPC would call guards.

Also 18 attempts for 6 one-stone items is a bit high... if this is consistent and not just an unlucky streak I'd hope it gets looked into. As for the zero-stone items being non-targetable, I think it's pretty fair, losing a Runebook/BoD book (Which can carry 16runes/100+BoDs) carries a lot more significance than losing one rune or one BoD and should not be as easy to steal.

    LOS/Distance does work actually.

Look I'm not saying bod books aren't valuable. They are very valuable. There are lots of very valuable things that can be stolen. I have a couple of tailors and I treat my BOD books like they are very valuable things - like I should. I only take them out of the bank if I am hidden and feel secure. Idiots carrying them around and them being valuable isn't a reasonable argument for making non-blessed items unable to be directly stealable. It's a trammy mindset that protects idiots for being idiots.

IMO if you're getting robbed all the time on this shard, you must be doing something very wrong. Being an idiot doesn't mean stealing is OP and It doesn't mean the stealing system is working well.

Yeah it's called going AFK... Point is stealing is still good, and if you are unhappy with your success rates you should consider the notion that you are not entitled to steal with impunity near high-traffic banks.
  13. the only toon I had on osi uor was a theif. I only got the guards called on me maybe 1 out of ten times.

Runebooks should be target stealable. Either items are blessed/newbied or they are not. This smells like a bug to me.

Amen! I also think the direction that a NPC is facing should determine whether or not they are able to call the guards. Aside from that, I think stealing is fine. I look at it as if it were occurring IRL. Its obviously going to be more difficult to successfully steal if: (a) there are many people around or (b) the item is heavy.

Agreed, same goes for BOD books. This should be changed.

It doesn't have to be era accurate, it could be perfected. ;)

It's a bit silly that they can't be direct targeted. I don't play a thief, but it does seem a bit off that they are not able to stolen like everything else.
