Old UO Player, played from 1998 to 2012 on Pacific. Stopped playing after they changed the account login/payment system and my grandfathered houses went down as a result. Been itching to get back into the game and this seems like the best server to get those memberberries. The only thing that is keeping me from starting up is the grind. How is still gain in this server? Mining, Taming and Smithing were such a challenge in 1998/99 that I get the shakes thinking about it even 22 years later. Also my favorite character was Fisherman archer/bard even after all the years of nerfing and revamping. Curious how it holds up in this server... You can GM most skills AFK in 1-2 days if you know how to use razor properly and use the guides here. Taming might take a few days longer when you are doing it the first time and without support characters. Provo might not be super helpful, when you fish up only one monster. Archery is expensive compared to canon balls (aka dragons) or magery. You could go for melee chars cross healing each other, too. You know that you can use 3 chars at the same time as three accounts are allowed, don't you?
Without anatomy, you won't be able to cure poison and there is no magery to fall back on, I would see this as an issue. Never played the fisher so that's my only comment on this. Welcome to UOR
Anatomy complements lots of other skills and it´s something you would like to have for certain pvm builds, almost a must for pvp. It makes your healing more effective, unlocks special moves frrom meele skills, lets you resurrect players, gives damage bonus. My fishers dont have it, neither does my provo bard as I use mobs to tank. Same deals in most tamer builds, you wont be using it or its benefits, so you can spare it
In general, it is allowed. It is not allowed for farming, obtaining resources and similar stuff that generates wealth. Usually these are actions that can activate the AFK Gump.
Yeah of course potions are used here and would do you well, you will definitely find it annoying you can't recall, cure, heal, gate, telecanisis and ebolt and these things are incredibly useful for tmaps, dungeon chests and even for killing what you fish up.
Well I dont know how to script cause I am bad with computers. But as I understand it you would be able to script Animal Taming to go from 0 to 100 since you arent collecting resources, is that correct? Since, I played for so long on Official UO shards I cant remember whats changes were made when. For animal taming you have to tame new creatures on this shard right? Ie you cant tame, release and retame because it will be guaranteed tame with no skill gain.

Yeah you use a razor macro for different stages of skill level, you cannot gain from personally re tamed animals, like your one character tames releases and tames again, in this case you would have another player or character to tame the animal and release it then tame with your other character, there is a great amount of guides available on the subject and more
Just created my first character, trader character (Mining, Smith etc) and ran to Brit Cave North of the Grave yard (my go to minning spot in 1998-2000. I would mine one end of cave to another then melt ore at a nearby house and start over. Well i got there an there were Ore Golems everywhere. I am confused, I thought this was a Renaissance era shard. Werent Golems added in 2009?
Also whats the skill cap? I thought it was 7xGM, but I saw someone post and they had 1,100 points instead of 700
It's perfected. So the base is heavily Reniassance era. but, shit like golems and elementals are GOOD ideas therefore have been implemented. Thieving here sucks, archery sucks, no insta hit, these were all relevant back in the day. But, we have mining, pet bonding, and a bunch of other cool things. There are also instanced events that staff have created that were not apart of the olden days. If you're looking for EXACT, you wont find it here. If you're looking for serviceable era accuracy but a bunch of new stuff put in to make it fun, then welcome! Also, no glacial staffs here because those things make my eyes bleed.
Interesting, so they implemented things that were good Post 2000 and left out that crap. Personally I hate Golems cause my craft character couldnt defend self (Max Mining, Smithing, Tailor, Carpentry etc). So with this new found information has any of the following been implemented: 1) Ships with Cannons and Pirates. HoS Ships (Britiana Ship, Dragon ship etc.) 2) Fishing Crabs and Dungeon fish? 3) LRC Armor (Lower Regeant Cost) 4) Colored Armor, ie Iron vs Valorite values 5) Hitching Posts for Homes
