Disregard any hate comments from me, I enjoy the event, but in the heat of the moment get frustrated sometimes.

Don't drop this style of event completely. I think you could just mix it up a little, have all the spell books spawn with1st through 3rd spells. Mix up the chests or where they spawn so that different stuff spawns in different chest each time. One other thing you could do is even out the playing field, if the winner is usually the one that is lucky enough to find the silver weapon. then make sure there are enough silver weapons for everybody or nobody. That will eliminate the luck factor and then people will score on how they played. Then again you could just leave it alone and we play it the way you built it. Love the event and I have a blast every time I do it. Chris great job, you went above and beyond like always.

If a lot are complaining I'd just do away with points and have the goodie bag have a shot at a commemorative statue with your char name participated/survived the night of horrors or whatever event it is. Honestly my favorite thing from winning is the angel statue as a keepsake otherwise its just some extra cHoin.

This. Increased goodie bag contents based on the overall accomplishments of the entire group.

I like it how it is. This is one of the best events I've been involved with on free UO shards, or OSI shards for that matter. I enjoy the randomness, the luck factor, the pandemonium, the whining and bitching 90% of people do afterwards etc., as these are the things that make UO, UO. Although, I do like the idea of making rewards based on group performance. I think this would promote group play and also motivate the slackers!

Think th best thing to do would be start people with a weapon relating to their skill, nothing silver, just a weapon.
Dagger, club or skinning knife, something low on th damage output, but at least something to swing with.

Last few runs those chests have been cleared out instantly of everything but armour and instruments.
Run before last, my axeman was using a gnarled staff til he got a blade at th bank somewhere, last run at it, he had no weapon til around the vampire lord dropping, big thanks to Steely Dan for the axe he crafted!

But due to the instantly looted chests, it's screwed the whole group, haven't even seen th final boss in the last few events, and we've not had a chance to drop the throne room bosses since everyone's still running around looking for any kind of weapon they can use.

If I had an archer, I'd bring him along since there always seems to be plenty of bows/arrows.

leave the the event mechanics alone! Its awesome. Even the spellless books.

I like how you have to kill things to get stuff.

only 2 thing that could change:

1) the gift bag being based on GROUP performace as a few people said. - That would inspire people to ADVANCE the group and not hog resources.
2) Later stages have a higher chance to drop more powerful stuff - silver weps/higher scrolls/more bandies

The event is awesome. .dont get rid of it.

personally besides seeing some in the heat of the moment stuff everything i have read and experienced surrounding this event has been very positive. Maybe staff deals with more of the extreme "like or dislike" portion of the community but i know that this event (my first "event" here) has really solidified what i like about this shard. i've been to a lot of shards where nothing happens because the staff has been beaten down so much by the community over time that they just don't really try any more. and it always leads to just one conclusion.

Most of what i have read seems to be just the community wanting to give their $0.02 in ways they think the event could be improved in the future. Not to denigrate the quality of the event you all have put together for us to enjoy. so, thanks for the fun and looking forward to more events in the future.

Somebody will complain about that, too.

People are used to instant gratification in gaming nowadays. You'll never be able to create a perfect event that everyone will be satisfied with, but I think the coordination and execution has been pretty great from what I've experienced so far. 2 more hours until the next one!

Chris - please don't be discouraged by anything I said in the original post, the bit about my friend was not a complaint but an observation. She learned from it and moved on. I personally comment to bring about positive change and feel that most others do also. The event is actually a hell of a lot of fun and thanks to the wealthy in UOR quite profitable.

Sincere thanks to UOR staff and community for making it possible from myself, my brother and our friends.

Woah man, I thought these events are awesome. My only concerns was ninja looting but its minor I can eventually get supplies but also the chaotic clutter, can't see shit usually. Otherwise these are a blast and I'd hate to see events like this disappear.

I get where Chris is coming from. I tried to hit the event this past Saturday and missed it by a minute or so it filled up so fast and I was left in the room where the signup books were.

Chris popped in to apologize and let people know it was already full and the ~25 people in there just started complaining, cursing and bitching to Chris telling him what an idiot he was and how this event sucks etc etc. it was pretty disgusting.

I really enjoy the events and hope he keeps doing them, but honestly don't blame him if he decides to cancel any future ones. I know I wouldn't put up with even 1% of the amount of verbal abuse he did/does.
