Oh yeah, that was me on my tamer. I have 80something int and no resist so it was pretty much a failed dump once I bounced on your reflect. I ran off to med, and since the other two were waiting on me for something I told them that I'd attacked you in bucs and failed the dump and that you were probably gone. It's really not safe to be standing around on foot like that, you're a sitting duck.
If only that were the case! But sadly I get 180k a month from being logged in too, and so do the people I'd bid against for the rares and platinum. I'll spare you the Inigo meme and simply remind you that I have more runic hammers than anyone and... ...when a thread suggested runics creating slayers, I said I didn't think it was a good idea. ...when a thread suggested runics being blessable for anyone, I said I didn't think it was a good idea. These must be some sorry future-pvpers if they don't have the comprehension to follow the single most customized and important system on the shard, which has a sticky post in the Discussion Forum and is mentioned in pretty much every Trading Post thread. I just checked SteelyDan's vendor, and he sells shadow iron runic weapons for 350gp. How is this even remotely cost prohibitive? And why would anyone need to buy two of these; who would loot a shadow iron axe from someone?!
Just because you leave characters logged in 24/7 doesn't mean that everyone can or does or will. I know that I don't. I don't think it's fair to call it free money or assume everyone has 180k a month sitting around. And again, if everyone on the server always had 30 plat to sell it probably would be worth less. Holiday coins flooded the market and dropped in price pretty quickly this halloween. There are also other costs associated with being a player so I don't think it's accurate to act like everyone has access to plenty of free money to spend on weapons. Some players actually just log in and play the game like crooks or anyone on occlo. It's a legitimate playstyle and I don't think it makes sense to assume everyone has 2mil a year plus anniversary and event rares to spend on their weapons. and inre to shadow weapons - I don't think they've ever been considered good here. It seems like gold is the benchmark where people feel like they have a decent weapon. I haven't tested these weapons personally, I just know they are considered garbage. If they weren't considered garbage I imagine people would buy them and be willing to pay more for them. I don't know if you have lost touch with what it is like to be an average player or if you're so wealthy you can't imagine what it's like to live in a small tower and use GM weapons but these people exist. And the idea is to level the playing field somewhat for those players. Not everyone shares the idea that UO should be a game of having advantages on other players. Some people remember it as a game where you can do well enough with modest means.
If you had any koncept of reading comprehension, you'd know I was talking about your lack of power to stop people from joining dominant factions and making blessed runics to their heart's content. The fact that I've listened in live to accounts of someone 1v1'ing an SL/TT, only to hear them fail dumps a few times, then bait the person into a 3v1 dump, is I think what Jack was getting at. As for these 'average' players, please show me the person that's not in VoP or OWN that actually plays in the mid-range and doesn't just bard/tame farm up enough gold/vanqs to be on a worthy level to go out and PvP. Sure there's a few of them out there but this shard has never and likely will never have a shortage of vanquishing weapons, or their equivalent. I'd love to see some sort of CUB option that would even remotely entice me to turn in vanqs for any reason. Gold and platinum are not really great motivators unless it's so much plat for the items that it doesn't make any sense to not turn them in. I'm all in favor of seeing weapon blessings removed completely, and the drop rates of Valorite Runic BoDs on the same level/frequency of top tier mask dyes. Once they don't take a year to make, they'll be common enough for anyone with enough drive to go get them and then we won't need any armor changes. The de facto standard for 'good' pvp weapons are Gold Runic (Vanquishing) and greater here and I don't think we need any armor or damage mods, just more weapons that fit the bill.
So eloquent! So well said! Maturevu, thank you for your contribution. I knew your vast knowledge of PvP would come in handy in a conversation such as this!
What's your point? Name a good pvp guild that has been on this server and not 3v1'ed someone. Jleem and Budou and Sandro and Clyde are probably the best teams we've ever seen here. Do you think they see a red and have one person dismount and drop a wall of stone in the field? As good as Pax Romain is, do you think he's roaming the land looking for fair 1v1's or do you think he's with bart/genger/gnarl on your voice server pking 4on1? I have failed plenty of dumps against some pretty bad people. I was one of the people that showed up to kill Jack. It was 100% he ran into someone that was on their way to something else, we showed up to usher it along. We didn't even loot jack, we recalled in, ended the fight and moved to our destination. He was standing around naked and on foot at buccs, it's not like he could have won a 1v1 against a mounted person anyways. He was just upset that he got ganked.
Much sensitive Very offend Wow I was clarifying the missed point that Jack was trying to make and others couldn't comprehend.
Blaise [bleyz] listen Verb 1. To post sophistic ideas that benefit oneself. 2. To pose straw man arguments in an attempt to rescue a faulty idea. 3. To devolve into personal insults after losing an ostensibly civil argument.
There is no population shortage here! GET ON THE HYPE TRAIN BLAISE.... and get off the soap box. No one likes the idea. No one has backed you up on the idea. And everyone hopes to god that telamon doesn't implement the idea. Build a bridge, get over it, move on.
Oh wow, zomg, another leghumper trying to paint it like it's only about me. Are you guys really that dense? Oh wait, you're the same people who thought I left SL because I wanted bartimus to join, so I'm gonna have to say yes. What part of "I don't need this in any way" are you so unwilling to accept? Stick to stabbing your "friends" in the back and being unable to actually have a conversation with them. If anyone's constructing straw men here it's the folks who keep translating "temporary" into permanent and idea into "begging". This isn't an argument. It's a conversation and there's no winning or losing, dumbass. lol
Thanks for posting the clearly sarcastic comment I made about bartimus. You really think, knowing full well how most of SL felt about bart, that I would try to get him on the team? How daft are you? I left because I was tired of associating with you and once you swung your dick around by banning me from the SL channel, that was the end of it for me. The credit is all yours but you can deflect it however suits your ego. I guess not enough people know that you were the first one to suggest to bart that he loot Mutombo before the items get locked up in a ban situation. The pastebin also makes it quite clear that you're a hypocrite who can accept forgiveness while also being too immature to even talk about someone you called friend. If you wanted to interpret that desire to have a conversation, as an attempt to get bart on board with SL, you're an imbecile. Can't really help it if common sense escapes you.
You have completely missed the point turd brain. I wasn't upset I was ganked. I was pointing out when the pvp crowd fights like this against everyone. (no mercy, sweep the leg) it doesn't help anyone get any field experience, and it's not fun. If one of you guys would have attacked, I could have had practice finding my hot keys, trying to time heals and maybe do some offense. Not mad at all, are you forgetting it's me? (I have been KOS since 98) It's the way you guys play. It's not fun for the people playing against you. I don't even know how it's fun for you.
Well all the blah blah about item insurance this, and blessing that, or change the gm weps this or blah blah blah. What would help pvp the most is not having mini groups driving everyone else into the ground, you're the best people here at pvp, nurture it in other players. Don't change the game if it's not needed, even if you change stuff and keep up with the same drive by nuke all players into death 24/7, of course they aren't going to pvp. They have no chance, why bother, you aren't making it interesting or fun for them. So they'll do something else or go somewhere else where they are competitive.
