So after a little bit of whining to Telamon, this has been fixed to now no longer affect pvp at all. Carry the hell on. Thanks!

    How so?

If it's not flagged when cast on players, can't you town-kill players via the same method as before the patch?

It might be that the flag only occurs in town limits and that outside it works as prior to patch. So if the pvpers try to sync dump in town then it flags? I dunno.

Telamon used some sort of sorcery. It looks like he changed the check to apply only to innocents and in town.

If you throw an explosion on a blue in town limits then the simple act of dropping the target on them will get your guard whacked. The whack and your death negates the damage and it's like an explosion never even happened. You don't see an explosion, you don't hear and explosion, you don't even get a message that so and so was attacking you before they got whacked.

Outside of town it works as intended. There is no sign that someone is dropping an explosion on you before the explosion actually lands.

Not quite Wizardry. Targeting an explosion is now a criminal act. The damage is the harmful act. The guards will respond to targeting, however the only outwardly visible sign is that you flag towards your target as a criminal, if that condition applies.

Appreciate the Cloth Blessing Deed change very much. It is a decent first step to less trammel items. *thumbs up*

unless your pets automatically attack criminals rather than aggressors, i don't believe this patch will change how your pets will respond to the explosion spell in circumstances where it is the first aggressive act.

I believe liberation is correct. But nothing would stop you from immediately targeting the aggressor at the point he targets you with the explosion spell.

The bulk of this change was to adjust how guards react to a criminal act related to the explosion spell.

A search for "bless" in the OP revealed a line about removing the blessed status of the bless deed itself (can now be stolen/drop on death),

Somehow they were blessed before. I thought I had removed the blessed tag from the bulk of the items in the world, but there are apparently still a few out there.

Ok, sounds like it is intended to not have too much blessed items around... Some other items that directly come into my mind when thinking about stuff that can't be stolen (but should in my opinion).

    Non-stealable:
    BOD books (!)
Polar Bear Rug deed (possibly all other BOD reward deeds too? See below)
Cloth Bless Deed (which is a BOD reward deed too)
All kinds of anniversary jewelry (w/o using CBDs)
    Holiday Robes

    Only rdm stealable:
    Runebooks
    Lockpicks

And additionally found in the forum (http://uorforum.com/threads/renaissance-guide-to-avoiding-thieves.2172/#post-16282):
-Filled Commodity Deeds (Weigh 20 Stones Filled)
-BOD Reward Deeds (Clothing Bless Deeds, Decorative Shield Deed, Tapestry Deed etc...) <-- Polar bear rug deed and CBDs belong in this category (see above)

BoD books, no way on direct target theft. Random only or at the very very worst, make them inherently weigh 10 stones so they are max difficulty to steal. The potential value therein could easily exceed the value of any other single item in the game, short of like valorite runic hammers.

BoD reward deeds, I see no problem with making them able to be stolen. In fact, I thought all BoD reward deeds were already, polar bears included.

Anniversary jewelry, hell to the no, ever. It's a clothing item and a keepsake for memorabilia for those of us who were around at the time or those who choose to seek the items out later. If it can be stolen, you can rest assured they will become decoration only and you'll never see them in a pack after that. On that same note, Leprechaun rings should definitely also be blessed. I think all of these jewelry items should be BLESSED too, not just newbied, so reds can have their style points too.

There are so many holiday robes on the shard, who cares. You want some? Just ask around, as I'm sure there's plenty of folks with a dozen who don't care in the least.

Runebooks the same as BoD books but I'd also love to see a BoD book bless deed available for platinum.

    Lockpicks? lol whatever.

I think filled commodity deeds should only weigh 10 stone, once a patch is put in place to allow players to buy a commodity chests for use in their home.

The only BOD reward I know of that cannot be stolen is the brazier, for whatever reason.

Rest assured, should you find someone with a deed for a suit of silver or gold armor in their pack, you can steal it. Phoenix armor deed can be stolen too, but phoenix armor cannot. So there's a reverse-bless right there. Progress!

BOD books and runebooks should not be carried around. It is that simple. The potential worth shouldn't play a role when thinking about stealable items. Nobody has to stand in cities with val rune BOD books. It is the same idea as standing around with a vanq repond slayer, which would be totally stupid and everybody would agree. And it is easily possible to counter a heist if wanted or needed to so. As people dont need to do that here, they stand around afk with their stuff in the main bag.

About the jewelry and special items, I was thinking about CBDs that could be applied on these items. But you are right, Blaise, it would only increase the demand for CBDs and make no difference in principle. That wasn't well thought, even stupid. Sure players should be able to wear these items.

The holiday robes were on my list for completeness and not for their non-existant worth. Same with lockpicks.

I totally disagree about the Runebooks. They drop upon death, when not blessed. That is why they also have to be stealable, directed. Else it takes so much pressure off the players to get these 250 plat and decreases the value of the blessing. For example, right now, you can very safely use non-blessed runebooks within guard zone limits and in principle dont have to care that much about thieves as long as you consider very simple safety measurements.

I know by experience that polar bear rugs are not directly stealable. Considering the CBDs and the forum post I quoted, I assumed it might be the same way for all BOD reward deeds (I havent experienced that myself on every of these items and don't want to).

Runebook, BOD Books. Given the weight of zero stones they will remain random steal only. Our advice to players is these items should always be kept in their bank.

Commodity deeds are 500 gold here, vs 15 or something that OSI started them at. As they encourage player to player trading of bulk goods they are important for a thriving player economy and allow new player to sell items that otherwise would be difficult to trade safely (1000 boards, 5000 ingots). We want to encourage new players to obtain and sell these items to provide for the needs of veteran players ensuring a stable economy for new players to quickly engage in. The weight of these items was simply a trade off between making them blessed. We will however never allow these to be redeemed outside of a bank as the banker is essentially holding the items in escrow.

Anniversary Jewelry will remain newbied, until we implement some sort of a Jewelry bless deed, possibly via the carpentry bulk order system.

As for how this relates to the patch. Snow is blessed because we want to encourage people to carry it around. The hair dyes are blessed due to their cost, and weight. Everything else is covered by normal world logic.

Generally on Renaissance we have a fairly firm policy on minimal blessed/newbied items.

Hahah, yeah, snow would be so utterly useless if it weren't blessed. Everyone should have snow in their packs. It's like a deco-tool....once you can afford it, you should always have it.
