(95+ fishing is required to catch a "Big Fish", tis by-catch of a sea serpent which is caught offshore in deep waters)

Big Fish datestamp must be on 12/12/2014 -or- between 1/16/2015 & 1/24/2015
Winning fish will be verified ingame so keep fish until end of tourney and don't mount.
Mounting a fish will remove the datestamp.

An angler can place only one fish in the biggest slot and only one fish in smallest slot.
(for example- Mr Fisher can win 3rd biggest and 1st smallest, BUT NOT 1st and 5th biggest. Also, a player with multiple fishers can place both Mr Fisher & Ms Fisher in 2nd and 5th place biggest. Point is one angler can not take 1st and 3rd with same fisher but CAN take 1st and 3rd with two different fishers.)
Players can use multiple fishers however fish is ALWAYS credited to the angler (character tagged on fish).
A player can use Mr. Fisher, Ms. Fisher, Fisher Jr. But above applies.

Fishing Feats: How to win these prizes will not be announced but awarded to the angler who accomplishes a pre-determined feat. For example, there might be a prize for the angler who turns in the 100th fish. The angler who does the pre-determined action will win the prize. I will be submitting a list of these pre-determined feats and prizes to Telamon before the Tournament begins to ensure there isn't a perception of a bias in awarding prizes. My advice is to participate and turn in fish no matter how big or small.

December 12th One-Day Tournament Announced!
The angler with the biggest fish caught with a datestamp of 12/12/2014 will win 100k! The smallest 25k.
Again, all fish caught on 12/12//2014 count for the tournament & Fishing Feats.

Note: The 10th Renaissance Fishing Tournament resumed on January 16th. All fish with a 12/12/2014 datestamp WILL count towards the tournament & the Fishing Feats. The tournament was postponed for the Holiday event.

Rules:
* The tournament will be held on Friday Dec 12th, 2014 & between January 16th, 2015 to January 24th, 2015. All fish weighed in must have a datestamp on/between those dates. (Note: datestamp is based on UOR server time, US Central, -5 GMT)
* Prizes will be distributed the following week.
* Fish weighed in will be credited to the angler, not who turns. Anyone can submit fish for any angler. Angler must be present to claim winnings.
* Use as many fishers as you like. Again, fish is credited to angler marked on fish. (some players are using more than one fisher)
* No sign up required! Simply post a screen shot of your catch but keep it for prize reward and... DO NOT MOUNT FISH. Mounting a fish will erase datestamp. Fish will need to be verified ingame to collect your prize. Only fish weight will only be recorded. You keep your catch.
* Anglers tied will split the prizes of the two respective places. For example, Anglers tied for 2nd and 3rd place will split the winnings for 2nd and 3rd place.

Notes on Fishing:
Double-click on a fishing pole, then click on a body of water. If successful, you will catch a fish. You might catch something more interesting than a fish. Success with this skill also depends on the availability of fish in that specific area.
0-65 - On land you will fish up Footwear, Magic Fish, and Normal Fish.
80+ - Sea Serpents (No SoS Message), Special Fishing Nets.
90+ - Treasure Maps 100 - Messages in a Bottle (aka MIB) / Waterstained SoS Message
95+ - You can reel in Big Fish which can be used to make Trophies via Taxidermy Kits.
You can get to 100% fishing on land, but deep sea fishing gives much faster skill gains.
Monsters will never spawn by fishing from land.

Just a friendly reminder:

There are PK's of the seas. So don't bring your boat key with you, don't take anything you cannot afford to lose, and make sure you throw your valuables that are fished up in your hold. I fish naked.. but it's mostly because the loincloth does it for me.

I am new to boats in this era's mechanics. Is it possible to be board another ship ONLY IF it is NOT locked? Or are there circumstances under which one can actually board a locked boat? Does it have to be locked and anchored for others not to be able to board it?

Can't board unless they recall off your key, you leave the plank unlocked, or if you die near the edge of the boat and they loot your key off your corpse.

By my calculations you hold at least 3 places so far, and I haven't even started....

There are many people who don't immediately post their catches, which is incredibly silly.

Especially since Zy said there were easter egg prizes. I'm guessing first fish was probably one of them.
