In total: 8 plat, ~50 gems, ~ 5k gold, two vanq axes (+15 and +25), some armor, some hundred regs, one new 5D member (welcome Ordog!).

Decided to give this Valentines Event a shot and made out with a few shinies.

With how the better skilled thieves are making out at this event I don't think I'll ever entertain a "thieving is broken" complaint again. Some thieves have made some good grabs early on before people started carrying locked boxes.

Aye, there are still some players not using the locked boxes as they should.

But what you don't see is that I was there for a few hours and had countless fails/deaths. Playing on my bard/tamer would have easily netted much more profit which is where you see those complaints generally coming from. A lot of the other guys have their thief as their main character, relying on it as their source of income.

Agree, such events are great for thieving. Apart from these, you have to have very much patience to get good marks. It's not the way that you get uber-rich and high gp/plat inflow all the time of the year. But that's the life I chose, so really no complaining from my side. Especially, as it's still much more fun than farming stuff (in my opinion).

That moment when you snoop the pack and see The Thing (whatever it is, might be a rare rock, might be a couple plat, nice weapon, whatever... the thing isn't all that important really)... and without hesitation, you nab it! It's yours if you can keep it!! Now the chase!! heart racing, running, hiding, stealthing... and then the grey fades and you recall to the bank to stash the thing.

Or maybe things went sideways and you're dead now...

Either way, it's anything but dull.
