Seeing quite a few far-out ideas and suggestions being posted lately. So I would like to offer a few changes that are realistic improvements. 1. Adding a bod to a book opens the book - very annoying 2. Opening an additional MIB closes the first - why? especially when multiple maps can be opened 3. Add a stat loss warning when resurrecting pets - if time has not decayed give warning that pets will take stat loss 4. Provocation miss-clicks are fubar - change skill delay to begin when skill is actually used, not on miss-clicks / use of skill & canceling - same with any other skill this has a problem with but I understand if it wont be changed because it adds a bit of skill to get things right 5. Easier solution to ghosting = hide players from ghost after x time (reducing GM assistance when being harassed by ghosting, yes this is a thing) 6. Using detect hidden will delay actions by 10 seconds - cant detect in house and use axe, must wait 10 seconds - minor hinderance 7. Having 125 items and empty pots on person while continually trying to fill from explosion keg depletes potions (possibly keg) / they don't fall to the ground
Number 4 and 5 are the best ideas I've seen suggested since I logged on the forums.. I hope these get more attention than blaise' blessed wep threads because those are very smart ideas
Terrible idea. My reason is simple, if you're dead in the woods running around, or login after rage quitting in a dungeon, you might miss out on resurrection opportunities. I don't agree with this at all, but if you did implement this, it should require that the ghost is idle (not moving, not talking) for an extended period of time (at least 20 minutes).
Excessive. If you're dead and not moving for more than a few minutes, automatic portal to the nearest shrine. Inability to see players would be thwarted by seeing the mobs dying, thus indicating there's a player nearby. I'd prefer adding bods to bod books, to open the book to the page the bod went to.
I wouldn't say that it's a terrible idea. It's on the right track. Telamon mentioned a couple months ago about working on allowing spirit speak to reveal ghosts inside a house, allowing you to ban them when revealed by spirit speak. This doesn't fix other uses for ghosts, like scouting in pvp, or for pking/burglary. There are other servers out there that make it so ghosts can't see the living unless they are in war mode. I'm not sure how difficult that is to code/design, but I think something along these lines satisfy all concerns in regards to ghosting. You know if you're being ghosted and those that are innocently running around as ghosts won't miss all of these "resurrection opportunities".
With #5 (Ghosting) if ghost is in war mode, allow them to see the living world ~ allows players to see them as well, defeats missed rez opportunity arguments
I kind of like that it opens. Opening to the last page would be a good change, though. Also, we want sortable BOD books Seems reasonable Pet stat loss is absolute (when it's active), not based on a timer. They died, the lose skill Agreed This is a known issue. It's tied to the lumberjacking changes around the time the sys messages stopped working. You can get around this by using the axe first, then using DH. (Agreed it should be fixed, though) If this can be done, it seems reasonable
I understand that and still feel that failure on attempt should have a uniform re-use delay for all barding skills.
IMO and it's just an opinion, if you die your ghost should always appear as if it is in war mode. That eliminates the "ghosting" in dungeons and pesky ghosts hiding out in people's houses without getting banned. I really don't see why ghosts were ever made invisible to start with.
Because ghosts can manifest themselves should they choose to do so. "Ghosting" wasn't an issue when UO launched nor was it even considered an "exploit" until free shards came about where people can run as many accounts as they want to.
Thus, the time has long since passed that something should have been done about it. I honestly feel that permanent manifestation is probably the easiest solution.
I'd support a 10s delay on provo failures (or 5s for Disco/Peace if that's a more accepted standard); agree it should be uniform. But, I also want the bug fixed
After you get PK'd and the PK follows your ghost for the purpose of rez killing. This applies to all aspects of PvP as well. I do not agree with making ghosts visible all the time. If you die, and a rez can be snuck in, you shouldn't have to worry about your enemy following your ghost in order to prevent a res. I know this probably wouldn't happen all the time, but let's be honest, it's not like everyone has ghosts in their homes all the time either.
