I can see that working with all the newer dexxers and partying sounds like it can use a little buff but I hope it doesn't cancel out non parry dexxers if it were to get buffed
there was talk earlier in the posts about people grouping together. I could be wrong cuz I haven't played a dexxer in a long time. but shouldn't it be possible to go out with say 2-5 dexxers and be able to kill w/e you want with cross heals? its a good idea when you think about it but a lot of people can't play with others good (get frustrated when someone stuffs up and gets them killed) to make a group of dexxers work. you could go out with 3 dexxers and a mage to help out with buffs and healing/damage. (just an example)
Tamer Dexxer is by far my favorite char so far and its very powerful, something Really important is that as a dexxer with 100 dex i can heal my pet every 3 secs, is a 25% more healing than a normal mage tamer. SWEET!!!
Actually, how about removing dragons from the tamables list and allowing the taming of wyverns. Wyverns and drakes as a killing combo.
This is a tamer shard! Tamers have been buffed twice already with the 8 pet slots and the multiple bonded pets. There is an entire tamer quest built around buffing tamers. Is this unfair? Yes. Why should they get additional content. However, I think making taming so strong was a good idea on Telamon's part because most people really love taming (even if many of us think it's stupid) Leave taming how it is, or take it back to 5 pet slots. I think it's really stupid how weak all the other classes are in comparison to Taming, especially because one can create three accounts worth of tamers in less than a week so easily. It's just another example of how the OSI version of UO was never meant to be in this three account free shard environment. SOLUTION: If there is a tamer quest to buff tamers significantly, wouldn't it be more balanced if there was a warrior quest to buff warriors significantly? If people complete the warrior quest then they get 30% increase damage to monsters and 30% decrease damage from them. The quest can be completed 2 times. I think the most simple buff would be more damage to monsters and less damage taken. Then warriors could enjoy champ spawns. This would be cool to see. A lot of the ideas presented here are too arbitrary or too custom. Try to avoid lots of custom stuff that requires unnecessary coding time and replace the nice historic uo feeling with a custom-shard feeling people!!! The only reason i suggest a warrior quest is because a tamer quest is already present on the shard...
Yea! More serpentine dragons! More mobs that have dragon slayer attacks! I still like the idea of removing dragons from the taming lists.
I'm fairly sure slayers were introduced before 2003, because I quit before 2003 and I had a Repond weapon. At the time though, you couldn't get a slayer weapon with any real mods, it would just be a "Katana of Repond" basically. We called them virtue weapons.
Nice idea. Stuff that switches targets occasionally is the easiest, simplest AI improvement to make 3-boxers lives more difficult. Another thing that helps is the "heat aura" of the phoenix and "cold aura" of the snow elemental (neither implemented on this shard yet but existed in era). See Christmas event scrolls from this past winter. Get rid of the overpowered polar bears and make the penalty for having 2+ control slots steeper, and you'll have a very fun dexer event. Doing this with a dexer was probably the toughest challenge I ever tried on this shard, certainly more fun and rewarding than 3-boxing an Elder Wyrm.
There is the start of interdependence between tamers and dexers here. You can see this in the xmas events where the fastest teams would bring a dexer with a repond slayer to mow down elves, and in ironman tamer quest attempts where dexers bring enough extra damage to the table to get the quest done under the time limit (likely due to tame damage reduction on the bosses). I think this interdependence is what we should strive for, rather than just buffing up dexxers until they can solo bosses by themselves. Less self-sufficiency, more interdependence. Reducing control slots to 5 would likely make a big difference, taking away about 35%-40% of a tamer's damage output. Triple boxing is a separate issue entirely, I think. As Gideon pointed out, both tamers and dexers can be triple boxed for great effectiveness.
Hah, I want to see 3-box dexxers on the field. That works perhaps on ships or as turrets on houses, but I doubt they will survive anything out there. But this interdependence is a really good thing. However it works only during instances so far. And dexxers aren't really necessary, as tamers can kill anything right now. Solo. And without real risks. Nerfing tamers to the point, that they provide the tanks and dexxers the high dmg output. That would work and encourage teaming up.
Interdependence is a worthy goal to strive for in this game, I think. UO is supposed to be a multiplayer game, after all. It's too bad that so many mechanics have already been set into place that encourage solo gaming. I went to a champ spawn and it was the most boring thing in the world. Just a million dragons surrounding the bad guy. Yawn.
If nerfing taming a little bit is out of the question, I liked Maltman's idea for a warrior quest. Aside from the work that would need to be done to implement the quest, the rewards seem simple enough.
I agree that buffing dexxers to the point where they can solo bosses is a terrible idea. To reiterate the problem with tamers is two-fold: -no incentive for group play because of ridiculous soloing potential -no risk both of these things contribute to make taming nigh compulsory for earning enough gold for best items/housing not only this but it also nearly mandates the afk taming playstyle which is sad. I think dexxers are fine right now. Maybe taming slots is the problem.
