Make a blessed slayer take 7 control slots and a bonding slot. Hell this would even make the zookeeper quest matter to anyone who uses weapons in PvM. Problem solved.
Let's not forget the point of dropping a half a mil worth of weapons on the ground when the 5 man gank rolls in. I can't res my weapon, why can you res yours? Gideon, you can do wonderfully with a good slayer at any champ. As long as you don't die and get dry looted or die with friends around only to have BlackEye pick your slayer and bounce because he's been stealthing around the whole time.
Did you mean to reply to me or someone else? I think me? Anyway, they (mage lords) are EASILY farmed to tears with a GM made weapon and a little peacemaking. I wouldn't bother with a slayer on those. I don't bother with armor either. Just a couple musical instruments, some bandies, a sack for restock loot, and a good music playlist to keep me awake. I could give zero cares about a pk at that point. In fact I'd laugh at a 5 man group that just ganked a naked bard and all they got was a spear of ruin out of it. Anyway... It's easy gold... not epic per hour gold but bloody easy, and that was my point. I'm not a tamer. I'm not for pet bonding. I'd have rather not had ever been a part of it. However... I'm not for the removal of it nor the nerfing of tamers in any way right now. I'm also not necessarily for slayer weapon bonding either.
So I should go farm mages in a dark corner somewhere while tamers stand around sipping cocktails with 8 dragons triple-boxed humping champs for plat? Sounds fuckin sweet, where do I sign up for that awesomely balanced perfected history? /wrists
You've interjected yourself in a reply of mine to someone ELSE I made as slight side conversation that had *uck all to do about slayer weapons or taming. I did not suggest it as an alternative to what you're campaigning about in any way. Moments ago, I even took the time to reiterate with you that we're in agreement about this (how silly pet bonding is) (let's count this as the third). Don't slit your wrists, you'd ruin a perfectly good keyboard.
Pet bonding is hardly history perfected. All aboard the Trammel train... Last call! Pets should be able to die. UO is all about risks. Besides, you can tame dragons all day for cannon fodder.
I agree however, I'd hate to see a common practice made of adding and subtracting content on a whim. Makes for a bad gaming experience. There's a solution to balance this and I don't think it's the removal of anything. Also, you didn't answer the question... not that you have to. I'm just noting that you opted not too but instead reiterated your original claim yet again. P.S. Pet bonding is stupid pants. P.P.S.S. Tame dragons all day? Sounds great! Let's go! You... me... Test Center. Let's spend all day taming dragons. We could even hold hands. I'll bring the beer if you'll bring the fondue.
Meh, I'm easy going. I enjoy the risk. I see risk being taken away all the time. I think I glossed over your question as it seemed rhetorical. Why would we go to test to tame dragons all day? We can do it fine on the live server.
It's called a conversation and in conversations topics segue and change as the conversation continues. If you think I care about who I'm replying to or in what way, you don't know me very well. I'm speaking my mind, as I always do, based on the conversation as I'm reading it.
HOLD THE PRESSES! This just in from the home page: "UO:Renaissance is an Ultima Online free-shard, based on Renaissance era mechanics, without the influences of Trammel." Pay particular attention to the end of that statement!
Holy shit you newb, perhaps show a little common sense and think that maybe I have already? I'm not dishonest or afraid to speak my mind about anything and you better believe I take my concerns to the powers that be before I start campaigning for what I feel is right. Shame he doesn't feel the same about me and opts to make accusations about me to my friends, behind my back, though. So how about stuff it, because you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.
I think pet bonding is nice because it allows people to realistically train their pets, an aspect of the game I think is cool. If pets couldn't be bonded nobody would roll with trained dragons or prolly ever train their dragons. WW's would be the pet of choice since they come with high magery and are good "out of the box". That said, once pet skill loss on death is re-implemented, I think you could adjust that % of skill loss to make it a legitimate risk, somewhere in the 2.5-15% range. IMO that would be closer to history perfected then just nixing bonding.
