(Not to be mistaken for the Knights of Sosaria KOS) The Sosarian Order of Knights are actively recruiting individuals to fill our ranks! Visit our new home on the web at Sosarian Order of Knights Home - GuildPortal Guild Hosting for more information on our guild! We are a 'good' aligned RP guild of Knights who detest the use of magic, and hence we are considered Witch Hunters. Stake burnings, honour, valour, all those things and more! Join us in playing a unique style on UO. It's fun and very different, especially for those who have never played a witch hunter or a knight. You won't regret it! 1. The use of magery of ANY kind will not be tolerated by the guild. This includes casting spells, using runebooks, asking mages to gate you places, asking mages to cast beneficial spells (heal, cure) on you. Shun a mage if he tries to "help" you by casting on you. Spell books and Rune books are NOT permitted to be carried at ANYTIME by members of the Sosarian Order of Knights. 2. Moongates - naturally occuring moongates are allowed to be used since they have no net effect on the denaturing of the Ether. The naturally occuring moongates were around before mankind ever was. NO MAN MADE MOONGATES whatsoever, no matter the circumstances. 3. Character name must be an appropriate name, no 'teh pwnerer' or 'ipwnu' etc. This is a roleplaying guild, don't like it, don't join it. Stay IN character at all times, if you HAVE to go OOC, use ICQ, MSN or AIM, or even the party option in UO. 4. Stay in uniform at all times. Upon resurrection, obtain a new uniform before performing other duties (see the uniform section). 5. Mounts: - Pages are not allowed to be mounted during guild activities (i.e. when hunting or patrolling). You are allowed to travel to far away places on a mount. A knight can request you to unmount at any time. - Squires may, additionaly, ride mounts whenever his/her knight is present and riding a mount. - Ethereal Mounts are forbidden. Stick to flesh HORSES only, no Ostards, Beetles, Llamas or whatever other mount you may possess. We're KNIGHTS! 6. DO NOT dry loot from warring guilds or RPers, only take what you may need (bandaids, arrows/bolts weapons). Try to keep this to a bare minimum as equipment is provided. If you can, return the equipment after the altercation. SOK is a very old order, formed in 1999 on the Catskills server. We have since played on a few free servers, UOG: Hybrid from 2004 to 2008 and rebirthed shortly on UOF. We are starting from scratch here, so it will take us some time to get the guild operational. Anyone interested please contact me. PM me or AIM me : martyodoyle Hope to see the rest of the RP community, and UO:R community soon!
If you're looking for a fun, unique and challenging experience in Ultima Online, look no further. Try playing an honourable knight without magery. The Sosarian Order of Knights is a PVP oriented RP guild that offers such an experience unheard of in UO. SOK isn't for everyone, nor the faint of heart. We are at a huge disadvantage over everyone else: no poisoned weapons (we're honourable knights!), no magic whatsoever (we get a lot of exercise!), strict uniforms, harsh laws, militaristic discipline. If you're looking for something new to try, then check us out, you have nothing to lose!
Love this idea..! Also, glad to see some Catskills players! I also played there from 99-01 with T9C. Welcome to UOR!
Thanks all for the warm welcome! We're thrilled to be playing here, we've already noticed a huge difference from the other free shards. Can't wait to get things in place and going strong here like I know we will! See you guys all soon.
To be quite honest, in all the years we've played we've never come accross the question. Typically we don't allow tamers in the guild, as most tamers have magery. If you were to come up with a good RP story line to back it up, I don't see why we wouldn't permit someone with 0 magery into the guild. You'd have to apply and see what comes of it.
I am also a old member of catskills and i hope you all fair well here. I will also be getting a hold of you in the future maybe get some joint events going or what not.
Sounds good, what guild are you affiliated with? Do you have a website or anything that I can check out. Thanks!
Just to clear things up as well. We are in no way PKs, or gankers. As a guild built on honour, there is no honour in zerging opponents. Most SOK members will refrain from going 'red'. It is not frowned upon as long as there is a reason. Also, if we see a 'red' player we won't necessarily engage them in combat right away either...unless they are a known criminal and they are wanted for a specific crime against the realm. We are loyal to Lord British and his rule of Sosaria. If someone commits a crime, we have been given authority to bring the criminal to justice by any means necessary. On our website there is a section for wanted criminals. If anyone has any more questions about the guild, feel free to ask! PM or AIM for fastest results
Nice to see the order giving this server a go, good luck with your endeavors. If you plan on hunting mages you're going to need numbers because without magic you're going to find it VERY frustrating since the Mind-Blast BS is allowed here (at least wands might give you a chance at surviving). Might want to allow scrolls and wands within reason since they are really considered passive magic by most. (sometimes it takes magic to fight magic)
I am a Council member of the People of Britannia. We don't have a website i'm working on that. For some reason they would not allow me to post a site in their forums. Are you in IRC often?
Good to see this up and running Marty. Very cool that you got your guild stone placed as well! I hope to meet and talk with you soon. I have some questions about the rules of your guild, in concerns with engaging the community: 1. Will you even associate with magic users (either formal alliances, or hunting together, or anything else)? If the answer is No, will you be openly disgusted with magic users of all kinds....? 2. Will you be focusing on hunting down "witches and warlocks", in terms of other players, or will you be also hunting down magic using mobs (liches, red npc mages, Balron, etc.....) 3. Will you be training in "Resist Magic" as that would need magic to be used in order to train against it? 4. Will you be using magic weps (Power, Vanq, Silver), or will you just be sticking with GM gear? Thanks! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts/rules on this!
Sorry took so long to get back you on this, Lord Krake! 1. No, we will never associate ourselves with magic users, formal alliances or hunts. Even those who consider themselves as 'good' aligned, are evil in our eyes. We are openly disgusted by all magic users. Do note, you won't be considered a magic user until you cast a spell in front of our faces, or are dressed like one and holding a spell book (Robes and a mage hat are sort of indicative of being a mage!). 2. We do not focus on witch hunts, but that is part of our RP. We will also be hunting down criminals of all kinds, thieves, pirates, brigands, and also any veil beasts that may threaten the safety of any citizen. 3. Training magic resist? I fail to understand the question, resisting magic is a natural ability and we cannot train ourselves. 4. We do allow magic gear, (power, vanq, invul etc). Why? We see the gear as having a special property, it is imbued, such as the moongates. It does not drain ethereal energy and therefore it is ok for use. GM smithed weapons and gear will be provided by the guild to our members at no charge. It will be up to the individual to chose what kind of gear he or she wants to use as long as it complies with our uniform rules. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Remember, in game we will treat you with respect until you show us your true colours (if you're a magic user!). It has made for a very interesting, challenging and fun experience to be a part of in the past. Hopefully we can bring that excitement here to UO:R! This is a great server and I'm thrilled to be a part of it!
I'll start hopping in IRC as much as possible. I'm usually at work mon-fri, and I can sometimes get on there. I'll hop in the RP channel as well. Cya soon!
Witchers eh? Well you're going to need some magic resist and greater heals to survive on this shard. Mages are pretty tough with barbed leather and stun punch. Good luck, hope to see you around.
Thanks for the headsup, we've experienced this sort of thing in the past. With some good members and teamwork, we'll thrive here on UO:R!
