The Ancient SOS - Renaissance Style May 15th, 2013 A the hour beyond memory set th' wind at me sails. Once a jim laddie wit' dreams 'o th' ocean, turned scurvy pirate 'o th' savage seven seas, 'tis Lord Dalgrim fancies himself a deity amongst sailors. A mighty fleet he had set ahead to seek out more treasure, returned naught but stain'd paper wit' scribble no more worth readin than all th' books he'd burned b'fore. No doubts calls fer help a scribbled by a scallywag callin h'self cap'n! Nay, th' treasure be not worth me the hour so I toss'em in th' waters from whence they come! The Ancient SOS/MIB System Continuing on the path to History Perfected, we have taken another opportunity to right the wrongs of OSI in era. Players with 100 fishing have a small chance to fish up an ancient SOS from a sunken pirate ship. There are 4 different Ancient SOS's that can be found. Each of these SOS's will lead the players to a pirate hideout previously unknown to the citizens of Britannia. When used these rare scrolls will open a mystical gate to these locations. Brave players can proceed through these games to explore these new areas and attempt to survive and possibly even defeat the challenges they find within each. While fishing players now have a chance to fish up an Ancient SOS, due to the depth in which these items are found players should be prepared to defeat a fearsome kraken to recover the item. Once the player has vanquished the Shipwrecked Kraken (mini kraken) they can retrieve the Ancient SOS. Players can find one of 4 different Ancient SOS's, each leading to a challenging area. Once you have the Ancient SOS and you are ready to face the challenges within, double click the item. You will be presented with a prompt to make sure you want to use the item. Each item can only be used once so make sure you are prepared. If the instance is currently active you will see this message. Simply try again later. If the instance is under construction or disabled you will see this message. To see the status of the various instances you can check the clocks at the Britain event center. Currently Inactive : Available for players Closes in ## Minutes : Time before the instance closes, if all players leave the event area, it can close early. Under Construction: This instance is disabled for maintenance. Once the event begins, a gate will open at the feet of the player who uses the Ancient SOS. This gate will stay open for 60 seconds and allow any player through it. So beware when using these items in a public location. Once through the gate you will be transported to one of four strange areas. Each instance has the following 2 Guarded Treasure Chests (Level 4 or 5, locked and trapped) 2 Bosses Guarding these chests A search of their person might find their chest key 12-50 Respawning Monsters A Variety Dealer offering emergency supplies A shrine offering healing services. Difficulty Pirate Bay (red) - Easy Hidden Treasure (blue) - Medium Pirate Cave (purple) - Hard Pirate Ship (green) - Very Hard The Ironman Challenge Should a player wish to undertake the ultimate challenge they can attempt to complete these dungeons by themselves. Earning additional rewards should you manage to complete this task. To learn more about the ironman challenge click here Event Failure, Running out of Time, Corpse/Pet Recovery Should you die horribly during an ironman attempt, run out of time, or leave one of your pets behind players can exit the event instance via the provided gates. This will take you to the event lobby in a secure area. Within 1-2 minutes of all players leaving an event instance all players corpses and pets will be ejected to the same location. So if you left a pet behind or left a corpse that you could not recover this method can be used to collect your body/pet. Remember to not leave the safe zone until you have collected any corpses or pets. The staff can allow you back in but might not always be around. Oh my gosh! Did someone loot the Tattered Spellbook during the Pirate Invasion event? That is so flippin' cool! I'm not much for rares, but a blessed, functional rare gets me all excited
That was not part of the event from Sunday, but one of the monsters in there does use that spellbook.
Can anyone post a list of all the 'known' rares that spawn in each instance. Last time I tried picking up everything and ended up with nothing
The spawning rares are listed in ReZon's thread: http://uorforum.com/threads/the-great-spawning-rare-guide-players-edition.1983/
two days ago i fished up a amib using nothing but a net and character had 0 fishing skill? just wondering if this is correct being what you stated in begining of article
The AMIBs originally just came from normal fishing only, and required 100 fishing skill. AMIBs were added as a potential reward for nets later on - and don't need fishing to use nets.
