I think I like Blaise's idea the most. It would create a good market for alchemy (which is close to non-existant) and make more dexxers around in PvP (which is again close to non-existant). It would be a sort of mind strengthening potion. Although I don't
Back in the day I Seered a server and would create my hidden quests in such a manner that only players with the light filter off would see the hints. As word got out, I think most the server was playing with it off.
I have a couple of characters I try to "keep it real" with. I just wish I could put it into words that people would understand. You see, to me UO is two games. First, there's the UO that most play. It's called, 'optimal'. You're there to win and aren't all that worried about the methods. Then there's this other UO I play every once in a great while. No macros, no filters, full screen, game music on and the lights in my room off... just the glow of my monitor and me and I stealth through a dungeon trying to sneak past two Daemons to get to that treasure chest. There just comes a time when the game is way more enjoyable when I'm not roflestomping through it like a 500lb gorilla. *shrugs* Anyway, in lor and pots are awesome and have their place.... and torches, and lanterns, and candles.
I love having to cast In Lor in dungeons and stuff. It's exciting when you're fighting some nasty thing and all of a sudden your spell wears off and the screen's gone black. It adds another element of risk! If black potions don't work for dungeons, like Jupiter says, that should definitely be fixed.
I would add in new potions before reusing the existing ones. Some people enjoy using potions and night sight.
Keep nightsight pots working same way, but, also add some sort of damage modifier, eg, if under effects, then 10% more damage is given.. or could have it 10% less damage is taken, but only working in dark places. (not sure if this would be possible though) Simply because if you can see better your going to take less damage or do more damage. the change needs to be related in some way
Maybe a bonus to stats when used at night? It'd certainly make you more dextrous to be able to see in the dark....and it'd make Night Sight useful again even if people are using the filters.
1. Slight increase in yields when mining in a cave. +5% to +10% 2. Slight increase in exceptional item chance. 3. Slight increase in spell casting chance. 4. Slight increase to gold drop in dark places (dungeons / scaled). 5. Chance to detect critters in dark places previously unseen (fairies & shit) w/ chance at rare 6. Removes inebriation 7. Increase chance to resist debuff from mobs 8. Removes 1 puzzle lock on puzzle chests in Khaldun 9. Increased boat movement during night. 10. Increased ( 1 screen ) tracking range in dark places /at night.
A bump to loot packs chance I could get onboard with in addition to some sort of stats bonus/regen rate.
