I think there should be some sort of bonus for having the poisoning skill. As it is now it only makes sense to have the skill on a mule. If a dexxer has poisoning shouldn't there be some sort of compensation for 100 points invested?
The ability to re-apply poison mid-fight. Nox fencers are some of the most deadly fighters in the game. When you've got 1 +25 vanq warfork, stopping to see your mule every 10 poison charges will get quite tedious to any regular fighter.
I believe there was talk at one point regarding the corrosion of weapons, because poison would absolutely wreck the durability of any weapon it was essential for fighters to use an oil cloth to wipe the poison off the blade when it began to corrode. Such a feature would greatly increase the desirability of poisoning on a non-mule char. Also as Blaise said, poisoning has very limited charges and sine every swing consumes a charge, being able to reapply in the heat of battle can be almost essential for dexxers.
At some point during what I believe was UO:R, the chance to apply poison was reduced for all characters and a bonus for actually having poisoning on the character was added to boost them up to the previous chance to poison.
That sounds pretty legit napo, and good point Deacon. I think the existence of oil cloth here is proof enough that it should be in use. I think something regarding cleaning the blade before re-applying could have it reduce the impact of the poison on the durability. There's also something in my head that makes me think oil cloth was used to prepare blades prior to combat with acid based monsters like slimes and acid elementals...
As far as I know if you hit a slime you would have to wipe the weapon clean or there would be a detrimental effect to your damage, not sure if thats the same here or not though because I dont hit slimes with my weapons Also I thought that a GM poisoner when hitting with DP had it upgrade to lethal poison.
The message of *acid blood scars your weapon* is in effect here but I have yet to Arms Lore any item that has seen such to determine if it really matters. I would be in full support of this function and would always pack oil cloth with me on my fighters. As far as I know, players have never had an ability to apply Lethal Poison in any instance, here.
Im not sure if it was in this era or not but I know that lethal poison was only usable by someone that had GM poisoning and had a DP'ed weapon equipped. I think it would be a nice addition for those who take the time to get poisoning up.
If you want lethal poison we should have it created by an alchemist using special ingredients from a silver serpent, dread spider, terathan avenger, and ophidian knight-errant. Then a gm poisoner have a 5% chance to apply it with like 5 charges. Lethal poison freebies... you already got DP that you can apply, isn't that the point of GM poisoning, to apply DP? If in combat you can reapply it, those without would have to carry additional weapons with the chance of losing said weapons. I just find it kind of silly that a DPer would need more bonuses LOLOLOL
I think it would be a good bonus for a poisoner, doesn't seem that silly seeing as how both alchemy and poisoning take a good while to get up and cost a good bit as well.
