How are you trying to connect? MIRC? MIBBIT? or web client http://www.uorenaissance.com/irc http://chat.chat4all.net/uorenaissance What message are you getting?
Run a traceroute see if you can at least hit the host. If you can, run 100 pings see how much packet loss you get. If there is a lot of packet loss then may be temporary ISP issues. Or if you have mtr, run that and kill two birds with one stone. -Tristan
I have no issues pinging the server. It seems to me that it has to be a configuration issue on my end but after checking everything I can't find anything wrong. Odd thing is, when I connected the other day I didn't have any issues. I also don't have any problems connecting to other servers in IRC.
You might try connecting to the specific US or EU servers and see if you have any luck. If neither works it could be some sort of filtering on your end, or your host for some reason could be blacklisted (unlikely) eu.chat4all.org or uo.chat4all.org
Unable to resolve server for uo.chat4all.org (6667) Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out) for eu.chat4all.org (6667) Same goes for the us.chat4all.org server
I live in a very rural area so my only way of getting internet is through a verizon access card. No router involved. Hopefully I can get to some wifi soon and see if I still have the same issue. When I connected the other day I was on wifi, so it very well could be my access card. Very strange that it is having issues only with chat4all though.
uo.chat4all.org is not resolving for me either. rgonzale@darkstar:~538> ping uo.chat4all.org ping: unknown host uo.chat4all.org eu.chat4all.org resolves. rgonzale@darkstar:~539> ping eu.chat4all.org PING eu.chat4all.org (176.9.142.61) 56(84) bytes of data. I thought we connect on irc.chat4all.org as listed on the homepage of uorenaissance.com. That one resolves. rgonzale@darkstar:~542> ping irc.chat4all.org PING irc.chat4all.org (69.64.52.243) 56(84) bytes of data. Alright it appears the issue is with Verizon and come to find out they are blacklisting chat4all it seems. I was able to connect through 78.46.69.140 which is eu2.chat4all.org
