Entirely for the stories that in-game are weaved around my characters.

But each character also has a life-cycle. Within that, the early years of adulthood are part of a cycle that begins with poverty, while the character develops skills and then begins to earn gold. This time is challenging and assuming the character survives, makes it possible to earn gold and save for a home. My characters are all simple trades folk, and don't aspire to a grand home, just to a cottage. Help may come along the way, and is always appreciated, but isn't anyway the same as a home of their own.

In UO I have always counted the passage of time as UO measures the passing of time: UO Stratics - time: 5 Britannian years equals one earth year.

Interesting idea. A neat idea would be to delete your character on death and see how far you could get in the game. I bet you would approach even mobs like liches with a new found respect.

I've had more fun stealing than doing anything else in this game. It's easy enough to make a living, but hard to get rich. But I enjoy hiding and watching, stealthing and stalking, and then waiting for the right moment to grab whatever has caught my eye.

On Pacific I used to have a Trammie RP toon named Gecko. He would dress all in his original newbie clothing dyed mauve (like a slightly orangish pink color).

He would move around town and respond to anyone talking to him by emoting (with no particular logic).

    Some sample emotes:
    *eats a bug*
    *licks eyes*
    *does pushups - 1, 2, 3...*
    *basks in the sun*
    *runs away - leaves tail*

I also had a Felucca character named Pipe Bomb who was a by product of me leveling Alchemy on another character. I leveled a lot of purple pots because Sulfurous Ash was by far the easiest reagent to find on vendors, npc or player-run. He would gather all of the greater purple pots, around 6 of them.

I rolled him with 50 Hiding, 50 Stealth. I would go to a moongate, hide, port to Yew moongate in Fel. If I saw a pvper standing at the gate (usually there were 10 to 50 at a time depending on the time of day) that I didn't like, I would stealth slowly up to him. Then I would double click all of the purple pots in sequence as fast as I could.

It only worked 1 in 5 times but if it worked, we'd both blow up. The other guy had like a few seconds to realize what was happening before we both blew up because it broke hiding when I double-clicked on the first pot. If that happened, multiple guys would loot him, turn grey and all of the other bored PvPers would chase them down like they would any thief. They tried to loot me but I have nothing on me.

Dressing up and pretending to be npcs is always fun when you encounter someone doing that. On another shard there was a guy named "Actor the actor" and he'd never talk except in "npc speak" so he'd just randomly say stuff like "I'll be keeping an eye on thee!" *looks around desperately and decides he doesn't need a master* and other emotes that npcs or animals do. It was quite hilarious :)

So, awhile back I made a throwaway newbie and started with an alchemist hued robe and a fitting name.

I hid a packhorse in the corner of the Occlo Mage/alchemy/scribe shop, put my character in the room with the big table and waited.

People would run up to me spamming vendor buy and I would respond with one of these examples,

My reagents were recalled by the FDA, sorry.
Something about angry cows I think?

    No

    Vendor buy

I ain't got time fo dat!

Shhh! Come back later, the walking dead is on!

Every 10 or so, OMG you're our 100000th customer!!! You win the prize!!! (100 each reg)

I see that you are a tamer. No reagents for thee!

^ You could take it one step further and not macro any skills and find a small group to work with doing the same.

I never joined that guild, but knew several of the players.

Its quite common for many characters to just lodge at the local rooming place, where they can be logged out quickly.

I remember being able to flag grey on corpses someone else killed. However, if i'm remembering correctly, couldn't you actually attack someone flagged grey even though it was trammel? This was maybe early on in the Ren era. when you could still do SOME felucca type things lol.
