I have been super busy with school. I have had not had the time for any UO but I have 2 weeks off before summer session begins. Is the server populated? I just think that maybe UO is truly past its prime which is sad. It was my first mmorpg and my true love...or am I better off sticking to the beach. _20150827_204516_wm.jpg

It's very active here especially at certain hours. There are a lot of people macroing though too of course in Occlo and their homes (as is the case on all servers). If you compare this one to the other populated servers though this one seems more active. At least from what I've seen.

I've played a lot of other very large shards since a while after AoS came out and I quit the production shards for good. Most of them have either disappeared, become ghost towns, or become just filled with bank sitters spamming gates to their vendors & advertisements. This one is still quite healthy though.

This one has a good size population and seems to be (over the 10 months I've played here) growing even... You can see this with the houses (Yew area especially). The difference between when I started playing here about 10 months ago and now is insane in terms of housing and what's available. That's a good sign that the shard is growing still.

There will be dull times of course where there aren't a lot of people online actually playing (like this time of night that I'm posting) but there's plenty to do still and the activity is good compared to other shards I've seen. Use the slow times to farm gold or even create a PK to hunt down those of us who are using this time for farming gold. UO is a neat game in that even if it's a slow time on the server there's still something you can do even solo. That's probably one of the reasons many of us keep coming back to this old ass great game :)

I tried out the prodo servers a month ago and only found a cow in Blackthorn's castle and 1 macroer at WBB. It's way more active here.

Also there's a surprising amount of total newbs to UO starting here recently (self included).

In true reply to your question...

If it's momentary and an either or situation...

    A. Sit on ass and play UO
    B. Go to beach

    Then B.

    If bad weather...

    Then A.

If you know how to balance your life

    C. all of the above.

Actually it's one of the best server I played. Stay in occlo if you want to see a lot of ppl. And with the young program, you can't be killed and powerlevel your character easily! The section guide also helped me a lot when I started on this server ( 1 month ago).

Very active server we got going on here! Capture The Flag events, Friday Fight nights, custom quests to partake in, noob friendly/group oriented instances to enjoy, a massive crafting community, some RP elements, some PvP elements, some ore elements to battle mine.

If you want that solid, old school feel, with a few new things added in that really, honestly, feel like they fit and add to the game play, this is the place to be. Hands down.

    Long live UOR!

RP scene is sadly pretty down right now. Alot PvM action. PvP mainly during US primetimes.

@Soulmate UO was my first mmorpg as well! This game will always have a place in my heart forever man, so many great times.

UO is worth it more than ever for you nowadays! Most of my best UO memories have been from playing on UOR. I never used to wreck balrons solo when i was 12. Finding orc masks was sooooooooo raaaaaaaaaad. Nowadays i feel like i'm the real Avatar just cheating the game.

You owe yourself some time here, lots of things to do and groups to do said things with!

Omg Valrick! I totally agree! LOL. When I was playing it around 12 years old I would NEVER dare go near balron or ancient wyrm. Back in the old days I would feel so awesome just hunting at earth elementals....Now i would just say...what a nub :D. Now i can hunt them XD!

I feel it! I'm 23, and I have been playing since I was 7-8 years old. Obviously when I was a very young child, I just played on my grandmothers account.. Back in those days, leaving the guild valley and going anywhere was an insane and scary adventure. (K^M, Pacific)

lol this game is NEVER past it's prime. Warcrack held nothing on UO over the years.
Any major overhauls on ultima, detracted from what it was.
As for the server here, it's just growing, plenty of new players just discovering renaissance or even ultima, and plenty of vets popping in randomly albeit mostly for events,it's kind of hard to forget about ultima even with breaks in gameplay.

Summer is here however, so a lot of people are gonna be outside worshipping that big ball of fire in the sky and the beach is full of females. Nuf said.
But it's always gonna be raining somewhere.

But for an mmorpg I've played many and never found one that came close to ultima.
For a single player fantasy rpg.......you got skyrim....baldurs gate.....and as far as im concerned the list ends there, but even with skyrims many additions, it's just not ultima online.

Ive been browsing freeshards for a few weeks. As far as players actually playing goes, this one seems to have the most active and cohesive community. So glad to be playing this again!

Despite signing on to UO:R a couple of years ago, I still feel quite new. I think it's just phases I go through were I miss the game and want to relive some of the nostalgia from 97' when I first played with an obsession for 4 years (Napa). Now just over 40 (boo!) other priorities in life rear their ugly head from time to time which really keep me from getting back into it.

A good run for me is bashing orcs or pirates, cutting bandages, listening to the music and slowly work on magic. I think a lot of people do play UO:R but also come and go in cycles. I also do not think it will ever 'die' out as it's now pushing 20 year :)

Good luck with school, enjoy the beach and try to enjoy UO:R too ;)
