Stat loss - Extending decay rate

    Some ideas...

    1) Increase decay for 'shared kill' counts where you and more than 1 other PK damaged and killed the victim. If just you killed the victim solo - 8 hours. If you and another killed the victim - 16 hours. If you and 2 other killed the victim - 32 hours. If you and 3 others killed the victim - max at 40 hours.

    2) If you killed the victim 100% on your own then you get a point in the 'Chaos' Virtue. After you accumulate 40 points in the Chaos virtue you obtain a blessed 'chaos' bandage. This bandage can be used on you while dead to res you without stat loss. It can also be traded and sold to other red players and can only be used by a red player.

    3) If you're a blue and you cast any beneficial spell on a red you get fractional murder counts. Each beneficial spell is 1/4th a murder count. You also get 1 hour of perma grey for each 1/4th murder count obtained as well. This perma grey persists even after rezzing and only wears off after the counter has run down.

    4) While dead as a red you can go to the Chaos shrine and for a certain amount of gold purchase a ghost bag. This ghost bag contains random loot such as weapons, armor, regs, pots, ghost ethys, etc. You may purchase up to 5 ghost bags per day. You can put this equipment on as a ghost and fight other reds as a ghost. In no way can this interact with the living. This allows red ghosts to fight one another. If you kill and collect 20 souls of darkness from other red ghosts (for which you have not obtained 'shared kills' with, i.e. item #1) you may revisit the shrine and select from one of several rewards. As an example, you may a) res without stat loss, b) obtain a 'darkness' scroll which allows you to PK for 24 hours without acquiring new short term counts, or c) obtain an 'ethereal binding' scroll which allows you to bless one weapon for 3 days and when that bless wears off the weapon is teleported into your bankbox so you don't accidently lose it.

    I'd like to see changes that tend to discourage group ganking, reward high quality solo PK'ing, and also give reds things to do and accomplish to make it more interesting as a PK during the downtime. Just brainstorming here..

    I like the bandage idea and the attempt at promoting solo pking and punishing group pking.

    Only issue I can see with the no stat loss bandage is some one macroing all night killing an alt to stockpile them

    I don't think anything should punish groups specifically harder than single players. This is an MMO and it shouldn't be a negative to play with friends or a group, aside from percentage of spoils.

    As for the supposed balance between your average victim's loot and that of a red, one is a sitting duck quite literally while the other is a hit and run tactic player. Reds do not carry spare loot unless they're taking it to the drop location, more often than not. Typical victims carry loot (above and beyond standard supplies) because that's why they are out in the field anyway. Claiming that you prefer to attack other reds and pvp characters is cute and all but contrary to the vast majority of the murdering/killing done here by every red to play on this shard.

    Most reds attack other reds on sight blaise and if reds meet in a dungeon they usually fight each other instead of the blues. This is what I have seen when I fight DR or iderp

    Please pay attention to the words used. Specifically ignored this time was the phrase "vast majority".

    I'm sorry you ignored that but maybe comprehending the entire statement will help you understand what I mean.

    You quit long before I played here, but you never stop trying to use your reputation to further the agenda of your friends. It's clear as day for anyone to see. Claiming I'm the reason you left but everyone with half a brain knows you been playing another shard for a long time.

    This is probably true but then why not just go orange. This statement proves our entire argument. If you aren't killing innocents, you aren't talking about PKing. This is what we are saying is the problem. Reds are playing PVP with their characters because there is no consequence for going down as a red. There is a whole system here for PVP and it is not being used because the short system is Fu*&ed.

    If you want to PVP and this whole short thing will ruin your time.... JUST GO ORANGE!!!

    The only further argument you can make here after the above statement is that "you want to be able to PVP everybody and everyone (red or blue) whether they like it or not" and that is not a valid argument unless you are willing to face consequences (RISK) for PKing innocents who aren't geared to fight and carry loot they aren't willing to lose. So you want to be able to go around killing EVERYBODY without losing anything? Trammel Town...

    It's called sarcasm and anyone with half a brain that "knows" I've been playing another shard for a long time, needs to find the other half of their brain that contains the information about how much I have actually played anywhere in the last 6+ months.

    Hint: It has literally nothing to do with you or anyone, or thing, in the game. Cheers and keep patting that back, just try not to dislocate your shoulder doing it.

    It seems like a very reasonable fix that would alleviate a lot of problems.

    1. Short terms would mean something again as they did back when leaving your comp on overnight was mostly unheard of, unless you were one of the lucky sob's who got a cable connection while everyone else was on dial up;

    2. Dungeons would have less scrub pk's running around if they had more to lose (time, at the very least) and something to keep them in check - such as "Do you really want to pk the same person 4 more times in the same hour when you're already at 5 short terms, knowing there might be someone else rolling in ready to put you down for a long time out?" = discretion;

    3. Incentive for anti-pks! Why fight reds currently when any victory is pretty much pointless? That red you just fought your hardest to kill is going to be right back to killing again 5 minutes later with no risk or loss whatsoever because they've left their char up overnight and kept their short terms low. However, if short counts decayed at the rate of 40 hours.....After a few more kills that red has 6 short terms.. You finally put down that pesky red, and now he's gotta do something more productive for about 2 weeks or take the stat loss hit. A sense of accomplishment - you have kept the dungeons safe from that dastardly evildoer for a while! ;

    4. Faction recruitment - I'd imagine those who correlate PK'ing with PVP would see an alternative in joining factions rather than risking short term counts by pk'ing people?
