This means that there are a number of items that classify as unique. The goal of this guide is to separate all the existing Unique Rares into the 2 categories: Artifacts and Events. Artifacts: Commonly refered to as Server Births, these items are few in number - generally between 1 and 3. Some have been given as reward items. Others have been obtained during scavenger hunts or server rare launch events. Staff has stated several times that the aim is to keep 2 of each birth in circulation (items of each direction count as distinct if the items are non flipable). So for example, there are currently 2 RareAnimatedBlueFlasks in the game world. Awesome idea..! So many events I never knew took place. Are you looking for all uniques and artifacts, or just the ones from events with the rare prefix? Curious if you want to know about unique item rewards from staff for bug reports?
Thanks for this guide Gideon, this should be a very interesting thread. Just wanted to tell the story of how I came to own these items because I have so many people ask me about them. First off, me acquiring these items was some crazy luck and unfortunately I do not have any screen shots from this mini event. Hopefully Ezekiel and Telamon can chime in here and fill in some of the blanks. So, sometime last year before the land rush, I'm thinking early Fall 12', Ezekiel held a small event. This event was a testing of the champ spawn system as they (Ez and Tela) were making changes to the champ spawn mechanics. Long story short, it lasted a couple of hours due to an insane amount of spawn, it took forever. FINALLY the spawn was complete and an "Evil Mage" boss appeared wearing this apron and wiz hat(Hue 1159). After the boss was killed I was able to loot both pieces from the corpse. This event took place north of Minoc as shown in the pic below. The only other person I can remember specifically being there was Deacon so maybe he can give some more details on this event and possibly a screenshot. After speaking with Ezekiel and Telamon about these items, they assured me they had no plan to re-use this hue for any other items (Hopefully this will hold true for my sake!). Also, I can confirm that at least one of the "Stacked Books" rares shown below dropped on this boss, although I was not able to loot it. I'm pretty sure Deacon owns this rare item and hopefully can confirm this. Like I said, I'm not sure if both of these books were on this boss or not but I know for a fact one was (don't remember direction of the one I seen on the corpse). There was also a purple skull that dropped off of this boss, called skull of Gemeni I belive.
The hues for those items (half-apron & wizard's hat) were colors that we pulled from the original Bulk Order system which we felt weren't acceptable to be released in circulation. That being said, it's very unlikely that we would re-add those hues in the future. Regarding the event & the origin of the items, everything described above if i'm not mistaken is accurate.
Yeah, two stacked books dropped off the boss, and a face down open book. I was lucky enough to grab both and I think Krypto is still wearing the purple robe that the NPC had on when he died. The boss also dropped a skull, although I can't remember who got it.

I was at the champ testing event and didn't acquire anything special but do recall seeing the hat and apron Markos acquired right after the event. I was lucky enough to know the owner of the skull who left UOR for awhile and returned. He needed to raise gold and I was able to purchase the skull.
