My biggest oops moment was in covetous level 4. Was dueling with some asshat that was talking shit with his friends. Knew he was a bitch and I could kill him. So I did, 1v1 nice and clean. Then, his friends finished me off. So the guy I kill is next to me as a ghost still and I all caps "you fucking <redacted>". Osi banned my account for that in 99. I'll never forget that's oops moment when my mom told me she knew why I was banned. Being 13 was fun.
I lost 100k logs to an organize agent tied to my house's trash barrel. Just as I figured out why the deed dissapeared when I picked it up (organizer was still going) I saw "emptying trash now!" Couldn't scramble fast enough and opened the barrel JUST as the deed dissapeared. Let my small shop a couple screens from Empath Abbey fall. I was checking out the pack of Saige the other night but she was on to me. She walked away and made an obvious gate trap and awkward statement about it going into her house as I stealthed up. Not fearing the loss of ~90 regs and 20 potions, I jumped in anyway and ended up on Ice Isle with no return gate. I managed to grab her spear as she cast Wis Quas and I took off running. Shortly after, I hear YouTube load a new video on my wife's computer. Knowing my cheap connection would lag under the weight of a new video, I accepted death. Losing the stuff and getting home wasn't a big deal, but I def didn't want to lose to the likes of smarmy Saige (RP hate only). Not sure which was worse.
I was in ice making a hit on my tax collector. The hit went south when a group of wizards ran in the cave and proceeded to cast harmful magic spells on me. I whipped my horse and galloped for the exit of the cave. As I exited the cave another group of wizards joined the party from a gate they opened from skara brae. I accidentally went thru and saw myself in town. I was a deer in headlights for a good 5 seconds looking at skara bank. I then magically went back through. It was a day after skara was attacked by undead and the Guards were still on holiday. Wow was I lucky. I seriously have nightmares about dieing on my pk Scully. Best game and server ever created.
So, this is actually a TRIPLE OOPS. 1st oops-- My first week or two on the shard i went red within 20 minutes of using my character. About 2 minutes after going red, i figured i would recall to Occlo bank and grab something real fast. I figured i could bank real fast, and leave, or maybe even fight 1 or 2 people. I did not realize that i would get guard whacked mid-recall. 2nd oops-- I was thinking "aw shucks, how dumb of me. well, good thing stat loss is only 20 or 30 mins." I RESSED and my skills dropped. I thought the drop wasn't that big of a difference, and surely my skills will go back up within 20 or 30 mins. So, i continue trying to pvp, and of course i die again. 3rd oops-- I ressed again. yes. again. My skills dropped AGAIN. At this point i was thinking "okay, im not gonna try pvping again until my skills go up", which, after my guild informed me, i realized took MUCH more time and effort than 20 or 30 mins. This was really embarrassing and CPU still dogs on me about this.
Of my 128 Deaths... 79 of them are from guards. I have a bad habit of getting drunk and recalling into guard zones.
