    Hi All,

I am currently running UOR on a mac. I have sound but I don't have any music. The music is one of my favorite parts of the game so I'd love to figure out what is wrong. I reinstalled the client and still no luck. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hmmm! That's odd. Try going into the UO directory and checking to see if the music files are there? Try going into war mode and see if that combat music starts.

I don't see any but there are quite a bit of folders/files. What folder would they be in? And yes still no music in war mode. I'm guessing this may be a mac issue? Should I reinstalled but maybe I should redownload?

Double-check to make sure your Razor is pointing to the actual Ultima Online directory you're using and not another from a different shard?

There is a hacked 5.0.8.3 client floating around that lets the client play MP3s from the Music folder instead of MIDIs. This might not play nicely with Wine and might be the issue.
I'm not 100% if this client is being used or not on UO:Renaissance, but what you could try is to find an unmodified client and make sure that there only MIDIs in the 'Music' folder.

Keep in mind that the 2D UO clients will only play files from the 'Music' folder if no 'LBR' flag was set in the 0xB9 packet sent from the UO Server when you log-in.
If the 'LBR' flag is set then the 2D client will only play music from the 'Music\Digital' folder and use 'Music\Digital\Config.txt'.

I have the Music folder with all of the game's music. Should that folder be somewhere specific? I'm very well versed in this so any help would great.

I'm bumping this thread to report the same issue.

I'm running OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. Sound effects are working, but the music is not. I did locate the music folder and all of the files were there. I noticed they were all MP3s so I found a pack of MIDIs and put them in the same folder, but still nothing. I tried creating a Music\Digital folder and put the music there and that still did not solve the issue.

Any other suggestions for solving this problem?

When trying to play a music file straight from the aforementioned folder, what happens?

The MP3s in the folder play fine (these were the files originally present from the launcher download) the MIDI files I tried out do not play, because there is no built-in method of playing MIDI files on Mac without third party software. I checked the uo.cfg file and music is set to on, as well as the in-game setting.

... leaving me to wonder if the game is being pointed to the midis?

I took a break but now I'm back and I'd love to have music as well! So hopefully another bump will help us find an answer.

The answer to all Mac Client problems is a Windows partition.
