I'm looking for a special sort of house that I would like to buy and use. I'd prefer a fort or a tower, but if the location has merit, then I will consider this. Ideally I'd like to get Despise Valley (@Puck) The glow tower (@Aris) or a fort that's likely out of my price range, since they've gone from 4-6 mil to 10-20 in a year (what the actual fuck, there) Please post a picture of what you have and what you want for it, I've played since beta regardless of the forum account age, so I do not plan on overpaying for any houses or being gouged. I do not gouge you people, I expect the same courtesy. If I'm not interested in your house, I'm simply going to say no thanks as a reply, I hope this doesn't come across as rude, I'm just rather picky at this point and have been searching for over a month. Thanks! (if it's just some crappy out of the way newb house, I don't want it, save both of us time and don't post it lol)
If it sweetens the pot a little bit I do plan on eventually having events and training areas for rogue chars and thieves. Ideally I wanted to do a town, but the several times I've tried this in the past I've hit roadblocks with being unable to buy the areas up. So unless @Treasureman and @Chris gets on board with turning Marble Island into a thief town, I dunno if the town will ever happen without assisting efforts outside of my own. However I can do events and the like regardless. Thanks again.
Could buy Cull's town he has for sale? Out of the way Keep, plus other stuff. Great little village... A thief town would be awesome.
Bump, housing has gotten about as available (less so) and pricey as prodo prices were, with only 1 thousandth of the player base. This 15+ houses (some of you are cheating with more than 3 accounts) and being able to refresh houses of people who don't play anymore is gimping up the game.
Should be 1 per account and idocs should be sped up. Nobody NEEDS 15 houses. Hell nobody needs more than 1.
Some players are in the real estate market so 1 per account wouldn't work. No one is cheating with more than 3 accounts. Players just take breaks but manage to refresh every two weeks. I was refreshing my homes on uosa for 2 years until just recently when I decided I'd never play there again.
Why do you need 15+ houses to be in the real estate market? Why do you need more than 3 to buy and sell homes?
I don't see why anyone would even want 15+ houses... refreshing them is a pain in the ass, especially if they are all over the map and not concentrated in one area. Wouldn't mind seeing it implemented where if a house owner hasn't logged in for over 90 days or something that after a while they can only be refreshed by the owner, but even still there's good reasons not to (large guilds whos guildmaster might not be active)
I would strongly quibble with "double" ShadowJack. I'll grant it's expensive, but that's due to both the fact that the area is covered and that... well, I had plans for it, so if I can't get what I consider to be its worth, I'll hold onto it until I get the deco bug. Incidentally, I agree with you as to what is apparently our shared surprise at such a dramatic rise in large home prices in such a short amount of time, but in the context of that reality, I consider the S/B of my auction to be in range. At the top of the range, I'll grant, but certainly within it. Just because the phenomenon appears to be artificial neither makes it any less of a fact, nor precludes the possibility of one seeking to profit from it (cf. the December spike in the value of holiday coins). Good luck with your search. Since you're not a fan of keeps, I'll keep an eye out for tower villages when I run about, and let you know if I find a group of houses that looks to be owned by a single person/group.
I love how this argument keeps sliding further into bullshit. To claim that there are tons of people with 15 houses is bad enough, but now we gotta call it 15+ lol... Why do people collect rare masks and sandals? They don't NEED masks and sandals! All these collectors are driving up the prices of masks and sandals, we ought to limit people to 1 mask and 1 sandal per account right?
If there was limited room to put masks on the ground then yes, you should limit masks. Your argument is bad. Also nobody said tons of people. But there are people. Yea. 15 houses are unnecessary. 10 houses are unnecessary. 5 houses are unnecessary. Who needs more than 3?
There are limited # of masks in many of the hues, never to be repeated. This is a great analogy. Who needs more then 3? Anyone who wants more then 3.
I'd love to go into the differences between want and need but you'd fail to grasp the concept. We could also go into the idea that masks are not a necessity to simplify game play but you'd not understand that either.
For a while people were complaining that the housing market here had tanked and it was hard to move some decent properties...
It's an up and down market just like RL. The 1 per char thing needs to change as well as the idoc system but that's another thread in a diff forum.
Lets go into the differences. I'm game. First lets assume that housing is indeed a necessity (it isn't, but whatever). I would argue that this housing need is easily met, as there are spaces for small/medium houses all over the map, found with VERY minimal effort. That is to say, under current housing mechanics, anyone can place a house at ease at no cost other then the deed. Sounds good to me. If this was not the case, I would agree with you that the mechanics needed some change. On a shard this size, if new players had to pay much over deed for small houses, I would fully agree with you that something needed to change. This is just not the case however. If someone wants a big house, they will have to pay a premium for it. That is normal for a shard this age, anything otherwise would mean the shard is a ghost town. The housing market is as much a tangible thing as anything in this game and so to destroy it because shadowjack wants PREMIUM properties at the snap of his fingers is silly. I just love the sandbox of UO so much that I will argue against people trying to take the sand out every time. Leave the sand.
