Before you can start training Stealth, you'll need to raise Hiding to 80. I would personally recommend GMing the hiding skill first. Now you will want to find the Thief Guildmaster, every time I've looked, the Thief Guildmaster has been in Buccaneer's Den just NW from the moongate and over the bridge. You will want to have this vendor train you in stealth as high as possible. Stealth checks become more difficult as you add AR. So, once your gains become slow, throw on a piece of armor and see if the gains start to get better. I believe stealth gains will max out at 84 with no armor on. If you fail constantly with no gains after adding the piece of armor, take it back off. Do this up to a limit of 15-16 AR. UPDATE: I put on 9 AR at about 73 skill and it has worked perfectly all the way up to gm. This is the razor macro I use for stealth. To use it simply create a macro named stealth (or whatever else you like) and log out of UO. Go to your Razor folder and open the macro file with notepad and copy the following: !Loop Assistant.Macros.UseSkillAction|47 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:11 Assistant.Macros.IfAction|4|0|to move unnoticed. Assistant.Macros.UseSkillAction|21 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:11 Assistant.Macros.EndIfAction Assistant.Macros.IfAction|4|0|you must hide first Assistant.Macros.UseSkillAction|21 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:11 Assistant.Macros.EndIfAction Assistant.Macros.IfAction|4|0|revealed! Assistant.Macros.UseSkillAction|21 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:11 Assistant.Macros.EndIfAction Make sure to save the file with .macro on the end of the filename. Happy gains!
Thanks for the macro, works for me. To improve you can edit the pauses to 10 secs instead of 11. At least for me that works fine Training with plate arms and helmet at the moment.
Awesome, glad that its working out for you. I believe I had it set to 11 seconds due to an odd delay on another shard, haven't fixed it yet
Thanks for taking the time to write a guide for Renaissance. Your guide has been added to the Renaissance Compendium. To direct players to this guide simply tell them to go to info.uorenaissance.com and find the related skill page. Renaissance Compendium - Stealth
There is also a Thief Guildmaster hanging out just inside town between West Britain Bank and the bridge.
Is this still accurate? I have been stuck at 80.0 for about 3 hours with no gain. It is set to go up, not skill capped, wearing 27 armor...
GMed with 100 hiding and 14AR with a full studded armor (gorget, sleeves, gloves, leggings and tunic) in about 1-2 days from 80. Maybe your AR is too high. P.S. the thief guild master that i have found was Deandra. She was walking directly south of the west britain bank.
If the armor was too high I shouldnt be able to stealth and it shouldnt effect the gains. Was macroing with 20 armor and no gains so I bumped it up and still nothing.
I just finished two characters GMing stealth at the same time. I kept one at the control 9ar from 85 onward. The second toon I added 1ar at 90. The finished result showing armor at 10 being much faster (.8) was the difference.
UO Stratics Stealth Guide from 2001 lists the following AR http://web.archive.org/web/20001211071800/http://uo.stratics.com/stealth.shtml Also, I use a very very simple yet useful macro for Stealth : Code: !Loop Assistant.Macros.UseSkillAction|47 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:10 Assistant.Macros.IfAction|4|0|you begin to move quietly. Assistant.Macros.ElseAction Assistant.Macros.UseSkillAction|21 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:10 Assistant.Macros.EndIfAction Before that, I was using a macro that would for some walking while in Stealth but gains are much better since I switched to the macro above. Also, it doesn't impact Stealth gain if you practice inside your house. This is useful if you want to start training Stealth below GM Hiding because you will never fail hiding. You will also never gain hiding so keep that in mind.
i know this thread is old, but this thread is the #1 google result for macroing stealth on UOR. I also got stuck at 80 stealth wearing a full set of leather armor (15 ac or so). As soon as i put on studded armor, it started going up again. Chance to fail stealth seems to be based on the type of armor you are wearing, not your AR rating.
I have not trained a stealther in the last few months. But the best gain is when you get around 50% chance of success. Add pieces of armor until you fail as often as you succeed and you will GM it pretty fast. ( I cannot recall exactly but it was around 16-19 AR to GM )
IMPORTANT: My stealth gain was stuck at 80.0 even though I wore every single part of a leather armor. I tried wearing a studded armor instead (full set = 14 armor) and skill gain started again.
Just to clarify, you can train up to 80 with no armour. After 80 all you need is to put one single piece of non-meddable armour to GM. Like if it helps
Unfortunately after 39.1 my stealth got stuck. 24AR. I removed chest and remained 12AR, nothing. I removed every part of armor - 2AR. Looks like it's the base AR from str or something. There's plenty of skills set to go down. Yup, I exceeded the 700 limit so no trainers anymore...
