OSI also grandfathered in those who already had more than one house on their account. So since you're focused on handling this perceived problem the OSI way, let's not forget that important little point.
Look another account that is super old, with low post count and only recent activity being this thread
(1) I am missing the relevance of the comment (2) Is it wrong to take a break or not be a forum warrior? (3) Are you accusing Merlin of something? What kind of veiled message are you trying to send? Why not come out and say it outright and risk having to say you are wrong if you are?
I don't get what my forum numbers have to do with the conversation. Does it negate the fact that OSI grandfathered accounts in after they made the one-house-per-account adjustment? No, it doesn't. It's like some of you fairies just start pointing at things that have no relevance when you run out of fuel. Hey, I can't really argue the point about the OSI grandfathering, so let's just start attacking his forum statistics. Yeah, that'll showem!
The only thing I can say about this, and the rest I will take to PM, I swear.... Is that we paid for OSI. As in those houses had a real life value outside of time invested. It was their obligation to those that had paid real dollars to allow them to keep their homes they had literally paid for IRL. That said, I have yet to donate here. However, those ACTIVE players that continually donate or have donated x amount of dollars should for sure be grandfathered in. Those that are INACTIVE and/or do not donate on the regular should not be exempt. You want your veteran rewards for being here since day 1, there you go. Fair compromise.
@TreeHugger I hate to further derail Peace's thread as now I am only contributing to the problem, but your constant attacks on the server veterans do not have merit. There is more ways to help the server population then try to enforce housing limits so every new player can place a large house. You attack people who helped make this server what it is today. If you concern is truly the new player base, what contributions have you offered apart from these constant rants berating veteran players? Do you help with player run events? Do you offer any services to new players? Do you create guides to help those who are new? Your argument seems to simply be a case of jealousy "the Vets have what I want, so I will cry until they get it." For all of you veteran players who have put heart and soul into making this server a great place, you have all my respect. If your reward is 15 houses or prime real estate, then reap the rewards of your effort and feel good about your contributions. @LanDarr sorry for the derailment, @TreeHugger and BS get to me after a while.
Don't worry about me, I am good. Hash it out to your hearts content, just keep it civil and hopefully something productive will come of it.
@One: It's not about being right or wrong, or having more houses or less houses. You claim it is about new player retention, and yet you and others keep posting (publicizing) how broken housing is here. That will drive people away more than one (1!) posting of an overpriced fortress. Please, housing isn't broken. I have yet to hear one compelling argument that cannot be refuted by numbers. Yes, you paid in OSI and that "entitled" you to grandfathered housing. The problem, which I hadn't want to bring up so as to not give any ideas, is that you don't have to pay here. If I am adamant in keeping my houses I'll take my daughter's lap top to Starbucks, create 3 accounts and have 6 houses. Then I'd log in from my work computer, create 3 accounts there and be up to 9. Take my personal laptop to a different Starbucks and create 3 accounts there, up to 12. Then take my brother's 3 inactive accounts and put 3 more there, and up to 15. Please tell me where I can be caught breaking a rule there. We'd only create a headache for the shard's owner. And it is not as if I have an inordinate means or access to ways of doing this. In this day and age it is not hard to replicate. The bottom line is that the average houses per house owning account (not taking into accounts that don't own houses) was 1.4 as of a year ago. It would be awesome if @Chris could update this info to see how much that grew and how much of a crisis we currently have. Again, if you, or anyone else can provide a solid argument as to how there is a crisis, by all means, tell us!! I have not heard a single thing to indicate this other than: I want to place my own massive house...on grass.
i think the whole "housing problem" is that a tower costs what.. 1mil or something? this one listed for 10. There isnt an abundance of spots for placing a large building even in the middle of nowhere where nobody wants to go. when a new player can suddenly afford a 1 mil deed but cant place it so they need to wait for a multi-million dollar spot to go up is where i think the housing "problem" is. im not saying thats my complaint - i just think thats the general thought on the matter.
