Greetings, people of Yew! I have had the pleasure of meeting some of our newest citizens, but I would take this opportunity to properly introduce myself unto thee. I am Jaana, Druidess and Judge of Yew. Many a tale hath been told of my travels with the Stranger from another world; he who would become the Avatar of the eight virtues. Much of what thou may hear of me is true but I caution thee to remember that legends grow over time and our deeds have been embellished through the years. I was honored to serve the Avatar, but my days of adventure are well behind me. I still serve Yew to this day, but I am happily retired from a life of violence and bloodshed. Still, I am more active than many would have thee believe. I have taken an active but unseen hand in matters of great import on a number of occasions. Until now, I have allowed the ancient Antos to speak on my behalf. Sadly, I didst lead him astray when dealing with a matter of thievery of late and, blinded by anger, I spoke words to him that were not founded in Truth, one of the great principles we hold sacred. I regret this folly and I am resolved to speak on my own behalf from this day forward so that I might lead none astray as I did poor Antos. Thou mayest see much of me in the days to come though ye know it not. I play many roles in Yew, yet my voice is not often heard. But know that I always have thy best interest at heart and I shall continue to serve Yew even unto death. Long may Yew Endure, Jaana of Yew
Would that I could say likewise, Brigand. Yet I must confess that thou hast proven to be a most honorable thief and I hold great hope for thy potential reform. Alas, the virtue of Humility compels me to offer unto thee an apology for my unfair accusations against thee. I allowed myself to be blinded by anger at thy invasion of the lighthouse and failed to note that little of any real value had been taken. The few items that were purloined were surely due to the handiwork of one of thy cohorts, but thou didst prove to be most merciful in thy return of the stolen goods. I am indebted to thee. Wouldst thou accept the apology for mine harsh words against thee? Perhaps there is some Compassion in thy heart after all, but I shall not rely on that if we should meet in the wild. Thine actions give me hope, yet I shall be ever wary of all Brigands that I may encounter in the future. Consider us warily well met, oh honorable Brigand!
