I'm a little confused about when the rewards will become available. Chris' original post says the shop will be open April 4th, but also seems to suggest that it will be open when the event is over and no more eggs/bunnies spawn. When does I get an herb basket?!?!?!

Same here! Made my first 2 millions collecting eggs. Did pretty much nothing else than running around and collecting eggs. May sound boring but I had a hell of a time! Venturing several times from one end of the continent to the other continent, I found lots of places I have very fond memories of. I died to several fluffies, I died to several PKs, I met lots of guys hunting and we had great talks, I spotted several housing spots (even large tower size), I found IDOCs, I found lots of vendors far from the road with very cheap prices .- best easter I ever had!

I actually thought that the Leaderboard wouldn't show who turned in the most points, but instead who collected the most eggs. Would have made more sense in my opinion, but dunno if that would have been possible to code.

We pooled eggs and one in our group had to go AFK for few, but when he got back turn in was closed
Tallying 'who' collected would be cool but crazy to code in likely

It was designed to track points, not eggs. But the only variance to that is the bonus points players could earn for golden eggs. Egg which were not very easy to obtain.

The system did track who turned in the eggs, but there is no way to track who picked the eggs up. This would also cause issues with buying/selling them as well.

There are a lot of posts here making good points, all of which explain why the leaderboard means nothing. It is simply for players to track who collected the most. We tried it the first year, players freaked out over who worked together and who was able to play more, who turned in more eggs, who waited till the last minute to turn in eggs, etc. This is why we moved to a easter reward vendor where the players simply select their own prizes based on their own personal effort. No winners, no losers.

I wish things were different on the internet, but alas, events where someone wins are just not possible. The easter store was our best compromise on the matter to resolve these complaints.

The only reason the leaderboard "closed" was so that we could open the reward store. Once the store opens and players spend their points, it can alter the results of the easter egg hunt. This is not designed to cut anyone off. We gave everyone an extra 12 hours after the event ended to turn in eggs to count for the leaderboard. But like I said before, it was just for fun. If you did well, awesome. If you didn't earn the placeyou were after. Still great, as you missed out on nothing. You can still purchased the prizes you want from the store.

If anyone wants to revist the 2013 version of this event, you can read about it here.

@Chris - I like your new avatar. This server is a WIN. The event was a WIN. Everyone who participated WINed. Some of them just don't know it that's all...

Very interesting! It's good though, that its just for fun now and the "winners" don't get anything extra (except seing their names high on the leaderboard). Otherwise it would have been a rich mans sport. Although I had no means to kill Fluffy, participating in this event was a great start into my new UO career. I probably couldn't have made more money with a dexxer. And it was fun!

    • Running around a large tower, seing an easter bunny with 7 eggs, quickly gathering all these eggs with the scavenger: 5 seconds
    • Making the bunny shit the golden easter egg: 1 carrot
    • Accidentally hitting the rabbit and making fluffy spawn: a lot of nerves
    • Getting PKed and dry looted 10 seconds later: Priceless! (Btw: Thx for even stealing my carrots!)

Nice! 2 mil was my goal too, I got close but my last sale agreement fell through when the leaderboard closed. That's the only reason I care about the leaderboard, because it's why a lot of buyers were buying and it affected the market.

I did most of my hunting in Occlo which of course was pretty tame, but towards the end competition ramped up and people started camping spots, low-key griefing and trying to steal other people's eggs and stuff -- if we weren't mostly youngs there might have been some good fights. I did venture out into the wilds a few times though. My favorite was after I discovered the resist event was blocked, I rez'd my ghost and wandered around Brit with no regs or bandies or a mount, picked some carrots in a field and fed them to bunnies without dying, killed a few things with my newbie dagger and got home safe with a pack full of eggs.

I disagree that the Leaderboard means nothing. As you mention, since the 1st Easter event players have been pooling eggs so it wasn't a secret. In a game with no real end game (save the princess, game over moment), event Leaderboards are a win even if it's just bragging rights. If a group is well organized, work as a team, and has time to dedicate they generally do better whether Halloween, Champs, or PvP. Some players always complain (some A LOT) about certain groups doing well instead of organizing themselves.

Speaking for my group, we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't turn in all of our eggs for the Leaderboard. Unfortunately, it wasn't 100% clear on when the Leaderboard would close, ie "The Leaderboard will close on April 23rd." We made the assumption that a few days would be granted to turn in eggs which was our mistake. Otherwise we would have turned in all of the eggs the day before. Easter is probably my 2nd favorite event behind the scavenger hunts. Many thanks to you and others who work to make the events possible.
