FTR I care not about your dissenting opinions. I didn't say give them infinite charges and make them blessed or newbied. I get it, you want everything to be a struggle so everyone can be a victim and something that could help someone in a way that isn't devastating or hugely negative is the worst thing in the world. Grow up and move along. You're free to not like it. Shutting up is also free and you're highly encouraged to have an excessive amount of it.
Aren't recall wands available on your second account to anyone with near GM Magery? I think that changed the name to Gate Spell?
I guess I am a purist. Recall is a spell. You have to have magery to cast a spell. Just like I can't fight with an axe without swords skill or tame a dragon without taming skill, people should not be able to cast spells with 0 magery. Second account mage gating out? Sure but 0 magery wands for the uninitiated? Nope.
honestly that last post was super sarcastic and I'm sorry. @Majinko don't be disheartened, these guys here don't like change nor the idea of the idea of change. So they get a bit crusty, like @Vandalin Keep posting ideas, the idea itself is neat but I don't know if it's plausible.
I guess us "purists" accept that a character with magery (and the appropriate spell in their book, and the appropriate reagents in their possesion) can create a ham out of thin air because that is exactly how UO was designed and worked. If recall was designed to need a skill (magery), why should anyone be able to use it 100% without the skill? Should a stun mage suddenly pick up a magic deed that temporarily grants it 100% blacksmithy and be able to create a runic spear? I understand the practicality of the proposal and the absurdity of my example, but mechanically how different are they? This place is much better because of MANY factors. One of them being applying common sense to the betterment of game mechanics, and even then, keeping them at a minimum.
